    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p><strong><u>Landfill Maintenance Technician</u></strong></p><p><strong>Solid Waste</strong></p><p><strong>Pay Range: $24.66/hourly ($51,292.80/annually)</strong></p><p><strong>** &nbsp;&nbsp;Internal candidates should apply via Polk One- Me Section **</strong></p><p><strong>Location:&nbsp;&nbsp;Polk County Landfill (10 Environmental Loop, Winter Haven, FL 33830)</strong></p><p><strong>Employee Benefits</strong></p><ul><li>Direct Deposit, Bi-Weekly Pay Checks</li><li>Medical, Dental, Vision</li><li>Life Insurance</li><li>FRS Retirement</li><li>10 Paid Holidays</li><li>Paid Time Off</li><li>Tuition Reimbursement</li><li>Education Incentives</li><li>Deferred Compensation Plan</li><li>Wellness Incentives</li><li>Employee Assistance Program (EAP)</li><li>Free Employee Gym</li><li>Free Employee Health Clinic</li></ul><div><p style=\"margin-left: 7pt;\"><span><strong>Must&nbsp;have&nbsp;the&nbsp;physical,&nbsp;developmental&nbsp;and&nbsp;mental&nbsp;ability&nbsp;to&nbsp;perform&nbsp;job&nbsp;tasks,&nbsp;work&nbsp;efforts, responsibilities and duties of the job illustrated below:</strong></span></p><p>&nbsp;MAJOR&nbsp;FUNCTION</p><p style=\"margin-left: 6.95pt;\">General maintenance and repair of machines and mechanical equipment required for County-owned landfill&nbsp;operations.&nbsp;This&nbsp;includes&nbsp;leachate&nbsp;management&nbsp;systems&nbsp;(i.e.&nbsp;pumps,&nbsp;check&nbsp;valves,&nbsp;floats,&nbsp;level transducers, flow meters, air compressors) and landfill gas management systems (i.e. pneumatic or electric pumps, air compressors, electrical motors and blowers).</p><p style=\"margin-left: 6.95pt;\">General maintenance and repair of diesel and/or gasoline powered landfill equipment, to include on/off&nbsp;road&nbsp;rubber&nbsp;tired&nbsp;equipment&nbsp;and&nbsp;vehicles.&nbsp;Assists&nbsp;in&nbsp;troubleshooting,&nbsp;disassembling,&nbsp;repairing and reassembling components of all sizes and types involving the mechanical operation of the vehicles/equipment&nbsp;described&nbsp;above,&nbsp;to&nbsp;include&nbsp;preventative&nbsp;maintenance&nbsp;(i.e.&nbsp;oil&nbsp;and&nbsp;filter&nbsp;changes, lubrication).</p><p>ILLUSTRATIVE&nbsp;DUTIES</p><ul><li>Assemble&nbsp;and&nbsp;set&nbsp;up machinery&nbsp;or equipment</li><li>Inspect&nbsp;and&nbsp;diagnose&nbsp;problems&nbsp;to&nbsp;determine&nbsp;the&nbsp;proper&nbsp;course&nbsp;of&nbsp;action&nbsp;to&nbsp;correct&nbsp;them</li><li>Maintain&nbsp;an&nbsp;inventory&nbsp;of&nbsp;spare&nbsp;parts&nbsp;associated&nbsp;to&nbsp;the&nbsp;Leachate&nbsp;Management&nbsp;System&nbsp;(LMS)&nbsp;and verify availability.</li><li>Maintain&nbsp;and&nbsp;repair&nbsp;mechanical&nbsp;equipment,&nbsp;such&nbsp;as&nbsp;pumps,&nbsp;check&nbsp;valves,&nbsp;floats,&nbsp;level&nbsp;transducers, air compressors that are associated with the LMS.</li><li>Maintain&nbsp;records&nbsp;of&nbsp;LMS&nbsp;maintenance&nbsp;activities.</li><li>Monitor&nbsp;control&nbsp;panels&nbsp;to&nbsp;ensure&nbsp;proper&nbsp;operation&nbsp;of the&nbsp;LMS.</li><li>Perform&nbsp;preventive&nbsp;and&nbsp;corrective maintenance,&nbsp;keep&nbsp;detailed records&nbsp;of&nbsp;maintenance activities</li><li>Plan repair&nbsp;work.&nbsp;Use of&nbsp;blueprints&nbsp;or&nbsp;diagrams&nbsp;as&nbsp;necessary</li><li>Review&nbsp;and record&nbsp;LMS&nbsp;data&nbsp;(i.e.&nbsp;flow,&nbsp;alarms,&nbsp;sump depths,&nbsp;load-out volume)&nbsp;on a&nbsp;daily&nbsp;basis&nbsp;to ensure proper function of the system.</li><li>Use computer SCADA system for operation and troubleshooting of essential leachate management infrastructure.</li><li>Work&nbsp;with&nbsp;various&nbsp;site&nbsp;contractors&nbsp;and&nbsp;consultants,&nbsp;as&nbsp;necessary.</li></ul><p style=\"margin-left: 7pt;\">Will often carry out many different tasks in a single day at any number of locations throughout the County Landfill area. May have to stand for long periods or lift heavy objects. May work in uncomfortably&nbsp;hot&nbsp;or&nbsp;cold&nbsp;or&nbsp;wet&nbsp;environments,&nbsp;in&nbsp;uncomfortable&nbsp;or&nbsp;cramped&nbsp;positions,&nbsp;or&nbsp;on&nbsp;ladders.
