Description

The Linux System Administrator is responsible for the secure, reliable operation and continuous improvement of the organization’s Linux infrastructure. This role administers Linux servers and workstations that support engineering, research, and production workloads, including core services such as identity/integration, storage, virtualization, monitoring, and automation. The position ensures system availability, security compliance, and performance in support of SHINE’s operational and regulatory requirements. The base salary range for this position is $90,000 - $110,000 per year plus a comprehensive compensation package. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Duties and Responsibilities Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Administer, configure, secure, and maintain Linux servers, workstations, and related infrastructure. Lead the deployment, modernization, and lifecycle management of Linux compute clusters, including replacement of aging or underperforming systems. Ensure Linux systems supporting SaM, Engineering, Chrysalis, and Phase III environments are compliant, stable, and properly maintained. Apply system hardening, patching, and configuration standards in alignment with organizational cybersecurity and compliance requirements. Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity; proactively identify and resolve issues to minimize downtime. Troubleshoot complex Linux operating system, storage, networking, and application issues. Implement and maintain automation, scripting, and configuration management to improve efficiency and consistency. Develop and maintain documentation, standards, and operational procedures for Linux system administration. Collaborate with IT, engineering, cybersecurity, and other stakeholders to support Linux-based workflows and projects. Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives related to Linux infrastructure.
