The Opportunity We’re building something new for New York City’s independent drivers — the people who keep the city moving but are often left out of traditional healthcare systems. Together with the Independent Drivers Guild and the Workers Benefit Fund (WBF) , we launched the Worker Healthy Living Program (WHLP) — a lifestyle medicine–informed program focused on helping drivers live healthier, longer lives through food, movement, sleep, stress management, and community. We’re looking for a Physician (MD or DO) who believes that health starts with lifestyle and relationships — not just prescriptions. This role is for a physician who wants to blend clinical care with hands-on program design, patient connection, and health education. This isn’t a typical primary care role. You’ll join a small, collaborative care team — including advanced practice clinicians, a dietitian, health coach, social worker, and medical assistant — working across in-person and virtual settings. You’ll lead and support shared medical visits, guide patients through six-month lifestyle medicine programs, and provide clinical leadership and oversight for group-based care focused on nutrition, physical activity, stress reduction, restorative sleep, and social connection. Beyond direct care, you’ll help shape how the model runs — refining workflows, advising on clinical protocols, and co-creating a system that supports both patients and providers. You’ll also work with Akido’s AI-powered platform to make care easier and more personalized — using technology to reduce administrative burden and enhance, not replace, the human connection. Telehealth is a core part of how we deliver care. This role offers up to 2 days per week of remote/telehealth work (subject to clinic needs and scheduling), giving you real flexibility while staying connected to your patients and care team. This is a hybrid role spanning in-person clinic days, telehealth visits from home, community organizations, and mobile care across New York City. Physicians can expect up to 2 days per week of remote telehealth work, subject to clinic scheduling needs — providing real flexibility without sacrificing the in-person connection that makes this model work. You’ll also collaborate in person from Akido’s Williamsburg, Brooklyn headquarters , using the office as a home base for care team connection, planning, and program building. Flexibility is essential, as the role may involve nontraditional hours — including early mornings, evenings, or weekends — to best serve our patient population.
