Position Summary ROSA Teachers will be responsible for creating course material aligned to Newcomer Program goals and teaching students in a manner that honors the academic, language, social-emotional needs specific to the adolescent immigrant experience. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in their academic content area, pedagogical practices of high yield for English Learners, and a deep commitment to supporting immigrant students in their academic endeavors, language acquisition, high school graduation, and post-secondary pursuits. We are currently seeking teachers to fill the following vacancies: Math English Elective Career Readiness This position may be eligible for an additional stipend for curriculum development. Performance Evaluation The employee will be evaluated based on the above position using either two methods: via COMPASS or a NOLA-PS evaluating instrument. If the employee holds an Educational Leadership certification, he/she will be evaluated via COMPASS to ensure renewal of certification. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Student Support & Intervention Design and implement proactive behavior support strategies and interventions aligned with schoolwide expectations and student success goals. Lead de-escalation, conflict-resolution, and restorative intervention efforts to support positive student outcomes. Facilitate restorative conversations, reflection activities, and re-entry meetings following behavioral incidents to ensure students successfully transition back to learning. Develop, monitor, and adjust individualized behavior intervention plans for students requiring targeted or intensive support. Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and administrators to identify students in need of behavioral supports and coordinate intervention strategies. Monitor student progress and use behavioral data to evaluate intervention effectiveness and inform next steps. School Culture & Climate Support the implementation of a positive and inclusive school culture by reinforcing behavioral expectations and promoting student accountability. Maintain a visible presence throughout the school day, including arrival, dismissal, lunch periods, and student transitions. Assist in the development and implementation of recognition programs, incentives, and culture-building initiatives that reinforce positive student behavior. Build strong relationships with students to foster trust, engagement, and a sense of belonging. Model and promote restorative practices, emotional regulation, and conflict-resolution skills throughout the school community. Staff & Family Collaboration Partner with teachers to implement effective classroom behavior strategies and provide coaching and support as needed. Participate in student support meetings and intervention planning processes. Communicate proactively with families regarding student behavior, intervention plans, and progress toward goals. Collaborate with school staff and families to develop consistent strategies that support student success across school and home settings. Provide resources, guidance, and training to staff related to behavior management and student engagement practices. Data, Documentation & Compliance Maintain accurate documentation of behavioral incidents, interventions, student progress, and family communications. Analyze behavior data to identify trends, evaluate outcomes, and recommend proactive supports and interventions. Support compliance with school, district, state, and organizational requirements related to student discipline and behavior documentation. Prepare reports and summaries as requested by school leadership. Maintain confidentiality and uphold all legal, ethical, and professional standards related to student information. Supervision of Students Supervises students in various settings including on-campus and off-campus activities, before and after school during drop-off and pick-up, within the classroom, during class transitions, recess/intermission, lunch periods, assemblies, and any other assigned times or locations to ensure their safety and well-being. Non-Instructional Components Attends non-instructional activities such as faculty and staff meetings, professional training sessions, IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, back-to-school and open house events, graduation ceremonies, PGP and PIP evaluations, observations, IAP and student discipline meetings/hearings, as well as school board and committee meetings and other meetings as needed/requested. Extracurricular Activities Attends meetings and functions of employee sponsored activities, groups, or clubs. Attends work concessions/gates as requested by Principal or designee if applicable. Educational Background At least an associate’s degree in education, Teaching English as a Second Language, or a field related to subject area Valid Louisiana teaching certification Teaching experience strongly preferred. Experience working with adolescent immigrant students, particularly those with interrupted education or who are over-age and under-credited. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required Thorough understanding of pedagogy and the best practices of education. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong classroom management skills. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, and outside agencies. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop creative solutions to address barriers to student success. Cultural competency in the diverse backgrounds and perspectives of immigrant students and their families. Urgency for and commitment to affirmative practices that transform educational and post-secondary outcomes for immigrant and English Learner students. Oral and written Spanish proficiency preferred (required for Math subject area candidates)
