    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>Cayuse Language Connect, LLC, is seeking a skilled and dedicated American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter to provide high-quality ASL interpretation services to support effective communication between Deaf and hearing individuals. The ideal candidate will interpret scenarios across diverse fields such as education, legal, medical, environmental, and social services, ensuring accessibility, professionalism, and adherence to ethical standards.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The position performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Cayuse.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<h2><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Provide accurate ASL-to-English and English-to-ASL interpretation for one-on-one interactions, group settings, and virtual or in-person meetings.</li>\n <li>Facilitate communication in a variety of settings, including but not limited to education, healthcare, legal proceedings, and community services.</li>\n <li>Utilize Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) and other technologies to deliver high-quality remote interpretation services when required.</li>\n <li>Maintain strict confidentiality and adherence to ethical standards outlined by the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID Code of Professional Conduct).</li>\n <li>Work collaboratively with Deaf individuals, colleagues, and organizational personnel to deliver seamless communication.</li>\n <li>Perform other language support tasks as assigned.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Qualifications – Here’s What You Need</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Minimum 5+ years of professional ASL interpreting experience in one or more relevant fields (e.g., education, medical, community, or legal).</li>\n <li>Bachelor’s Degree in American Sign Language (ASL), Linguistics, Deaf Studies, or a related field is strongly preferred.</li>\n <li><strong>Must hold one or more of the following professional certifications:</strong></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certification.</li>\n <li>Board for Evaluation of Interpreters (BEI) certification.</li>\n <li>Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI) certification, or equivalent.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Minimum Skills</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Fluency in ASL and English, with exceptional comprehension, vocabulary, and cultural awareness.</li>\n <li>Thorough understanding of the Deaf culture, and the ability to engage with the Deaf community effectively and respectfully.</li>\n <li>Strong ability to manage complex or sensitive communication exchanges with professionalism, discretion, and empathy.</li>\n <li>Physical stamina and mental focus for extended interpreting sessions in both remote and in-person environments.</li>\n <li>Outstanding interpersonal skills, social awareness, and sensitivity to cultural nuances.</li>\n <li>Familiarity with virtual interpreting platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or VRI tools) for remote assignments.</li>\n <li>Must pass a background check and comply with additional client or project-specific screenings during employment as required.</li>\n <li>Travel availability to support on-site assignments when needed.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Desired Qualifications</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor’s Degree in American Sign Language (ASL), Linguistics, Deaf Studies, or a related field is strongly preferred.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Experience interpreting in high-profile or specialized fields (e.g., federal courts, higher education, or corporate environments).</li>\n <li>Knowledge of tactile interpreting (e.g., for Deaf-Blind clients).</li>\n <li>Fluency in an additional spoken language (e.g., Spanish, French, Mandarin) alongside ASL.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Reports to: Deputy Program Manager</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Working Conditions</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Must be able to be on-call, Interpreter will be notified within 48 hours of potential jobs.</li>\n <li>Must be physically and mentally able to perform duties extended periods of time.</li>\n <li>Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed to meet the demands of this position.</li>\n <li>Must be able to establish a productive and professional workspace.</li>\n <li>Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time looking at computer screen.</li>\n <li>May be asked to work a flexible schedule which may include holidays.</li>\n <li>May be asked to work hours outside of normal business hours.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Other Duties: </strong><em>Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive list of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
