In this role, you will help deliver an exceptional patient experience by anticipating patient needs and providing hands-on care that supports comfort, dignity, and safety. This includes assisting with personal care, mobility, nutrition, and maintaining a clean and supportive healing environment. Patient Care Technicians work closely with bedside Registered Nurses (RNs) and play a critical role in observing patients and reporting changes in condition to ensure timely and appropriate care. Required Qualifications & Skills Certifications & Training Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association required OR attainment upon completion of the IU Health PCA education program Additional advanced life support certifications may be required based on department or specialty Knowledge & Competencies Knowledge of care appropriate to the age and developmental level of patients served Up-to-date understanding of patient care procedures and standards Knowledge of infection control principles and aseptic techniques Familiarity with equipment, software, and systems used in non-licensed patient care roles (PCA) Skills & Abilities Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to exercise sound judgment and initiative in problem-solving Ability to prioritize tasks and manage a high workload in time-sensitive situations Ability to maintain focus amid frequent interruptions and varying noise levels Capacity to work under stress and maintain constant situational awareness Ability to perform physically demanding and repetitive tasks Ability to read, perform basic math, and accurately document information Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Commitment to personal hygiene and patient safety standards
