SUMMARY: Safety Inspectors are required to have a strong understanding of aviation safety principles, aircraft operation and maintenance, AAR policies and federal laws. Primarily, inspectors make sure mechanics, technicians, QC inspectors, aircraft and other equipment function properly. Troubleshooting, diagnosing and repair skills are also part of the job. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure all Repair Station personnel comply with current Federal Aviation Regulations, Repair Station and Quality Control Manual, and Policies and Procedures - Demonstrate excellent communication skills, professionalism, and positive customer service attitude without compromising quality - Ensure maintenance and inspection personnel use approved or accepted data issued by the manufacturer, FAA and or Customer. - Ensure adequate inspection aids, special tools and equipment are available, and maintained in a serviceable condition - Oversight of facility technician training requirements - Oversight of the facility tool control and tool calibration program - Ensure final inspections are properly performed on all work completed before it is released for Return to Service - Conduct audits as required - Ensure incoming parts, supplies, and articles receive an incoming inspection (Receiving Inspection) lAW repair station policies and procedures. - Perform such other tasks as may be reasonably assigned by his/her supervisor. -Perform investigations of accidents, incidents and customer reported quality escapes. Will be responsible for compiling objective evidence by conducting interviews, reviewing documentation, observing activities, performing audits, surveillance and investigations to determine whether organizations and/or individuals (management or non-management) are conducting business in accordance with regulations and established policies and procedures. Safety Inspector provides direction and recommendations for the resolution of matters of non-conformance through the development of corrective action plans, comprehensive fixes and/or process changes. They engage primarily in the following types of assignments: (not limited to) (a) Evaluating technicians and the repair facility for continuing adequacy; (b) Evaluating the technicians working on the aircraft training program; (c) Inspecting aircraft and related equipment for the accomplishment of proper maintenance; (d) Challenging technicians and inspectors, that they are following established policies and procedures. (e) Investigate all accidents, incidents and reported customer quality escapes. The evaluations may include the adequacy of the repair station facilities, maintenance, equipment and procedures; the competence of employees; the adequacy of the program or schedule for periodic maintenance and overhauls; and the airworthiness ofthe aircraft. Safety Inspectors may perform a variety of other inspections and or audits, investigations and advisory duties. However the primary requirement for positions in this specialty is knowledge and skill pertaining to the maintenance and airworthiness of aircraft.
