Headquartered in McLean, VA, By Light supports defense, civilian, and commercial IT customers worldwide.</p>\n<h2>Position Overview</h2>\n<p>The Senior Systems Engineer will play a critical role in the planning, development, and execution of delivery orders (DOs), contributing both as a technical leader and hands-on engineer. This individual will be responsible for guiding systems engineering efforts across the full lifecycle, from initial concept and requirements development through testing, verification, and final delivery.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>This role requires close collaboration with internal teams and government stakeholders and may involve occasional travel to customer sites or test events. A hybrid work environment is possible when not required to be on-site for customer meetings or test events. The program reserves the right to require on-site work if program execution and success dictates.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Lead and support the development of delivery orders (DOs) from initiation through completion on military simulation system applications</li>\n <li>Analyze, decompose, and define systems-level requirements aligned with customer needs</li>\n <li>Design system architectures and ensure integration across multiple subsystems</li>\n <li>Develop and execute system verification and validation plans</li>\n <li>Coordinate and participate in milestone testing events with government customers</li>\n <li>Coordinate, develop, and deliver technical CDRL documentation in accordance with project DD-1423 and DID requirements</li>\n <li>Coordinate and direct project staff to develop operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting scenarios</li>\n <li>Ensure technical performance, quality, and compliance with contractual requirements</li>\n <li>Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software, graphics, and program management</li>\n <li>Serve as the primary technical interface with customers, stakeholders, and end users — building and maintaining relationships throughout the project lifecycle</li>\n <li>Organize and conduct integration events, technical briefings, and planning events for audiences ranging from instructors and subject matter experts (SMEs) to requirements owners and program leadership</li>\n <li>Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies throughout the system lifecycle</li>\n <li>Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Required Experience/Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field</li>\n <li>10+ years of experience in systems engineering or related discipline</li>\n <li>Demonstrated experience with systems engineering lifecycle processes (requirements, design, integration, test, and verification)</li>\n <li>Experience with AGILE development\n  <ul>\n   <li>Certified Scrum Product Owner or Certified Scrum Master is a plus</li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li>Experience with development in high fidelity game engines (Unity Preferred)</li>\n <li>MS Office applications including MS Project</li>\n <li>Experience working with government customers and understanding of DoD acquisition processes</li>\n <li>Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills</li>\n <li>Ability to lead technical efforts and manage competing priorities</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Preferred Experience/Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools and methodologies</li>\n <li>Familiarity with systems engineering standards (e.g., INCOSE, ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288)</li>\n <li>Prior experience supporting defense or aerospace programs</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Special Requirements/Security Clearance</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Ability to obtain a Security Clearance</li>\n</ul>",
