Description

Overview The Marine Field Service Technician is a customer-facing role that requires a high degree of expertise and the ability to work independently. Marine Field Service Technicians also receive specialized and targeted training in troubleshooting, technical procedures, and safety. Completes all job responsibilities in a safe manner, promotes and champions a safe and healthy work environment. Use troubleshooting techniques to diagnose problem/ cause of failure. Remove/ disassemble and assemble/install components and parts. Clean, repair, recondition, and maintain equipment and components. Test, measure, and adjust engine and machine systems and components. Interpret technical drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams to successfully complete tasks. Determine reusability of parts in accordance with published Caterpillar reusability guidelines. Order replacement parts ensuring that orders are correct and complete. Clean, repair, recondition and maintain engines, generaors and components. Test, measure and adjust engine and power system components Prepare, inspect and operate machines prior to delivery. Keep up to date with developments in tooling, technologies and systems. Prepare inspection and appraisal reports, complete accurate service reports and other necessary reports and forms. Qualifications High school diploma required. Associates degree in related field, preferred. Minimum of 2 years hands-on experience diagnosing, testing and repairing marine application engines on pleasure and/or commercial crafts. Knowledge of troubleshooting techniques and proper repair procedures is required. Ability to work independently and can complete work with minimal supervision. Demonstrated problem solving skills; detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy. Proven customer service skills, able to work with a diverse customer base and maintain a professional demeanor at all times. Ability to set and keep priorities and professionally handle the stress associated with dealing with a fast-paced industry and deadlines. Strong written and oral communication skills are required. Working Conditions: The physical environment requires the employee to work primarily outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to injury and/or hazardous materials. Job requires standing, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting, turning, lifting. Job requires working in confined spaces with limited ability to move around. Physical use of a broad variety of tools and machines in order to maintain, troubleshoot and repair equipment. Must be able to lift varied weight – up to 75lbs unassisted. Seeing, reading, and writing to complete job responsibilities. Use of computer and other forms of technology to complete job responsibilities.
