R&amp;D work spans sensors, hardware, firmware, software, and platform technologies supporting a wide range of monitoring applications.</p>\n<p><strong>Position Summary</strong></p>\n<p>The R&amp;D Engineering Co-Op – Technology &amp; Platform will support hands-on development, testing, and validation of technologies within Qualitrol’s Technology and Platform group. This role is ideal for a student interested in applied engineering work, laboratory experimentation, and learning how technologies are developed and validated for real-world industrial applications.</p>\n<p>The co-op will work closely with engineers in the Technology and Platform organization and associated Value Streams, and will spend a significant portion of time in the lab supporting sensor evaluation, testing, and data collection activities.</p>\n<p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Support laboratory testing and evaluation of physical and chemical sensor technologies, including setup, execution, and documentation of experiments.</li>\n <li>Assist with sensor characterization, calibration activities, and performance testing under varying environmental and operating conditions.</li>\n <li>Collect, organize, and analyze experimental data to support engineering development and decision-making.</li>\n <li>Support prototyping and test fixture setup for sensor and platform development activities.</li>\n <li>Document test procedures, results, and observations in a clear and organized manner.</li>\n <li>Collaborate with R&amp;D engineers across hardware, mechanical, and systems disciplines.</li>\n <li>Follow established laboratory safety procedures and engineering best practices.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Learning Objectives</strong></p>\n<p><strong>During the co-op assignment, the student will gain experience in:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Hands-on laboratory work with industrial sensor technologies</li>\n <li>Applied engineering testing and validation methods</li>\n <li>Working within an R&amp;D environment that supports global product platforms</li>\n <li>Collaboration within a multidisciplinary engineering team</li>\n <li>Translating experimental results into engineering insights</li>\n <li>Required Qualifications</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Microsystems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering or applied science discipline.</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Interest in hands-on laboratory work and experimental testing.</li>\n <li>Ability to work methodically, follow procedures, and document results accurately.</li>\n <li>Ability to work independently.</li>\n <li>Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.</li>\n <li>Effective communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Coursework or experience related to sensors, instrumentation, measurement systems, or data acquisition.</li>\n <li>Prior laboratory, co-op, internship, or project experience involving experimental testing.</li>\n <li>Familiarity with basic data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, MATLAB, Python, or similar).</li>\n <li>Interest in industrial, energy, or asset monitoring applications.</li>\n <li>This is a six-month cooperative education experience anticipated to begin in Fall 2026.
