    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p><strong>Position Summary:</strong></p><p>The Mechanical Design Engineer (NPD &amp; Sustenance) plays a key role in developing, improving, and sustaining mechanical products across their lifecycle. This position focuses on concept development, detailed design, and continuous improvement while applying design‑for‑manufacturing principles, cost optimization, and quality excellence. The role collaborates closely with cross‑functional and global teams to deliver reliable, high‑quality, and manufacturable solutions that meet customer and business needs.</p><p><strong>In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:</strong></p><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li>Generate ideas, develop concepts, and create detailed mechanical designs for new products and product enhancements.</li><li>Perform hand calculations, tolerance analysis, and GD&amp;T stack‑up in alignment with ASME Y14.5 standards.</li><li>Apply strong engineering fundamentals to address design, manufacturing, and performance challenges.</li><li>Provide CAD design support using Solid Edge or SolidWorks for New Product Development (NPD) and Sustenance projects.</li><li>Drive cost‑reduction and quality improvement initiatives while maintaining product performance and compliance.</li><li>Apply Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA) principles to improve efficiency and ease of production.</li><li>Execute Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) using PLM systems.</li><li>Support prototype build, functional testing, validation activities, and evaluation of test results.</li><li>Create, manage, and maintain costed Bills of Materials (BOMs) using Teamcenter or similar PLM tools.</li><li>Balance multiple priorities effectively to meet customer expectations, quality requirements, and project timelines.</li><li>Communicate technical information, design intent, and project updates clearly with global and cross‑functional stakeholders.</li></ul><p><strong>Who You Are:</strong></p><p>You build effective relationships across teams, functions, and geographies by communicating clearly and respectfully. You approach challenges with curiosity and a structured problem‑solving mindset, continuously seeking opportunities to learn and improve. You collaborate openly with partners such as Electronics Hardware, Firmware, Manufacturing, and Sourcing teams to achieve shared goals.
