Dewberry's Orlando, FL office is searching for a motivated Mechanical or Electrical Engineer-Commissioning Agent to step into the role of Deputy Department Manager within our thriving commissioning department. Over the last three years, our Commissioning Team has achieved an extraordinary 10X increase in backlog , leading to an escalating demand for our engineering and commissioning expertise. Our team specializes in diverse markets, including Education, Healthcare, Industrial , and Federal projects , operating across the Eastern United States from Louisiana to New York City . We take pride in fostering strong, mutually beneficial client relationships, continuously improving the quality of design and construction, and standing out as trusted partners in transforming the built environment.
In this pivotal doer-seller, entrepreneurial role, you will develop, lead, and manage a Commissioning team of professionals and execute Commissioning services projects. You will provide technical and process management support for commissioning projects as well as business development to expand our client base. This role comes with autonomy backed by substantial horsepower. The variety of daily tasks will keep you inspired and engaged. Your skills will be instrumental in inspecting building systems and creating comprehensive testing and closeout documents, all while utilizing cutting-edge software to streamline processes and enhance efficiency. In this role, you will report directly to the Commissioning Department Manager and be engaged in strategic decisions to continue the growth of Dewberry’s Commissioning Team.
Key Required Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
10+ years of experience in engineering and commissioning - building systems
Proven commissioning experience
Commissioning process certification preferred or willingness to acquire within the first 6 months
Strong leadership and business development capabilities

Responsibilities
Doer-Seller: Find the work and execute it.
Actively support and coordinate with the entire commissioning team to execute projects and uphold our commitments.
HVAC sequence of operation knowledge and capable of performing design review of Sequence of operation and creating mechanical system testing procedures and testing same in the field
Must have knowledge of manipulating, adjusting, setup and testing HVAC controls systems such as JCI, Trane, Automated Logic, Siemens, etc. Knowledge in multiple control systems a plus
Must have complete working knowledge of HVAC chilled water and DX systems including design, operation and testing of: Chillers, Boilers, Cooling towers, pumps, heat exchangers, AHU, RTU, ERU, VAVs, exhaust, FCU, etc.
Review air and water test and balance process, review a TAB report and identify issues.
Visit client facilities and gather necessary data to test systems
Create system installation and testing documents
Be familiar with OSHA safety requirements and ability to identify deficiencies
Be familiar with building codes and ability to make intuitive decisions related to such
Read and understand building plans and specifications
Work safely around electrical systems up to 600 volts
Effectively communicate with all clients, construction trades, and design professionals
Have a high aptitude for abstract reasoning, assertiveness, thoroughness and be very detail oriented
Work flexible hours and work in hot or cold environments
Climb stairs, ladders, and lift trucks. Do moderate lifting. Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
Travel approximately 50% of the time.
Required Skills & Required Experience
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering
Accomplished engineer with 10+ years of experience
Commissioning experience
Commissioning process certification preferred or ability to acquire within first 6 months
Business development experience a plus
Professional Engineering License a plus or ability to acquire
Self-motivated with highly developed verbal, written and interpersonal skills
