For Waterfront Lifeguard; successful in the completion of all aspects of certification in Lifeguard w/ waterfront module, CPR (BLS), ASHI Advanced First Aid, and passing (2) monthly in-services per month specific to physical ability and waterfront rescue & first aide/CPR knowledge.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>For more on Employee Perks, click on this link: Employee Benefits | YMCA of San Diego County (ymcasd.org) </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Schedule:</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Part-Time - Must be available during the waterfront operational hours</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Practice preventative lifeguard techniques at all times</li>\n <li>Maintain high standards of skill in First Aid, CPR, oxygen administration, and effective interface with local EMS agency personnel</li>\n <li>Supervise program participants at all times</li>\n <li>Take full responsibility for the program areas of camp or assigned activity, including developing rules and procedures, ensuring adequate program supplies, and maintaining or improving equipment and facilities</li>\n <li>Ensure program operating procedures are being followed at all times</li>\n <li>Use good judgment; make conservative decisions all to ensure the safety of the children</li>\n <li>Follow all rules and instructions, carry, and use properly necessary equipment during activities, know and follow waterfront/camp emergency procedures</li>\n <li>Demonstrate a strong sense of investment in the YMCA by actively supporting the cleanliness of facilities, care of equipment and supplies, and stewardship of the natural environment</li>\n <li>Work effectively and cooperatively with the team of other camp counselors and directors</li>\n <li>Ensure proper care of waterfront, including appropriate use and accurate inventory of program equipment</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Must be at least 18 years of age or older and have obtained high school diploma or GED</li>\n <li>Current certification in First Aid and CPR-Pro (BLS) O2 and First Aid from one of the following certifying organizations: American Red Cross, American Heart </li>\n <li>Association or American Safety & Health Institute</li>\n <li>Successful completion of on-site Waterfront Guarding training and monthly in-service drills and training</li>\n <li>Successful completion of on-site ASHI Advanced First Aid course and monthly in-service drills and training</li>\n <li>Experience working a waterfront environment preferred</li>\n <li>Good customer service and communication skills when interacting with children, parents, and the community</li>\n <li>CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations:\n  <ul>\n   <li>American Red Cross</li>\n   <li>American Heart Association</li>\n   <li>American Safety & Health Institute</li>\n  </ul></li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><em>YMCA will consider qualified applicants with a criminal history pursuant to the San Diego County Fair Chance Ordinance and the California Fair Chance Act.
