You will protect and promote the interests of both Gilbane and the client in all matters as well as demonstrating the personal characteristics of a developing leader. </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong>Overview</strong></p>\n<p>The Estimating Manager- serves as lead estimator for firm fixed price pursuit in coordination with the Senior Estimating Manager.</p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p>\n<p>As an Estimating Manager, you will: </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Lead the estimating efforts for lump sum bids.</li>\n <li>Read plans and specifications and understand the requirements of the RFP and assign bid packages to estimating staff.</li>\n <li>Leads staff to assure accuracy in estimating process, procedures and review requirements are met.</li>\n <li>Reviews plans and specifications and coordinates with the team to confirm complete scope.</li>\n <li>Coordinate and execute tasks of estimating personnel assigned to a specific trade. </li>\n <li>Monitor and follow up on staff’s assigned duties i.e., review Scope Checklists</li>\n <li>Write effective RFI’s.</li>\n <li>Assist Project Executive in the preparation of general conditions/general requirement pricing. Based on logistics plan and schedule developed by Operations.</li>\n <li>Advise designers, in design-build projects, on solution with the lowest initial cost to meet the RFP.</li>\n <li>Review and coordinate project-specific insurance requirements.</li>\n <li>Reviews coverage of subcontractors and/or suppliers to ensure adequate participation.</li>\n <li>Assists in “Good Faith Efforts” as required.</li>\n <li>Lead review efforts for subcontractor and supplier bids.</li>\n <li>Develops and recommends appropriate risk register values.</li>\n <li>Presents lump sum bid to Leadership for review.</li>\n <li>Support project buyout after award which includes scopes of work and negotiations.</li>\n <li>Trains and develops staff.</li>\n <li>Tracks and reports on current material and labor prices, including escalation.</li>\n <li>Tracks and reports on current material and equipment to identity long-lead items.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Key Competencies</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Communicate Effectively ‐ Listen to understand and clearly convey information in all forms based on the audience to ensure shared meaning of the message.</li>\n <li>Act Inclusively ‐ Ensure that actions and behaviors are respectful; show empathy and treat others with dignity. Create a sense of individual ownership and accountability.</li>\n <li>Champion Innovation ‐ Identify opportunities for new and improved ways of doing things that result in value added, unique and differentiated solutions.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Extensive knowledge of Winest, On‐Screen Take‐off, and similar software for take‐offs and estimate pricing for C/S/A systems construction.</li>\n <li>Supportive computer skills for varied formats such as basic Windows applications plus pdf’s, TEAMS, Zoom, etc...</li>\n <li>Ability to present estimating deliverables to management and explain advantages in utilizing one contractor over another, scope gaps, cost swings, etc.…</li>\n <li>Ability to estimate multiple facility types such as hospitals, hangars, office structures, specialized mission structures, base improvements, renovations, and additions.</li>\n <li>Ability to maintain healthy working relationships with industry partners (Owners, designers, subcontractors, etc.) for the development of estimating deliverables.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Experience/Education</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>BS or MS degree in Engineering or Construction Management </li>\n <li>10-15 years of relevant experience  </li>\n <li>Hard bid, lump sum experience required.</li>\n <li>Federal government experience preferred.</li>\n <li>Or equivalent combination of education and experience </li>\n</ul>\n<p><em>Gilbane offers an excellent total compensation package which includes competitive health and welfare benefits and a generous profit-sharing/401k plan.
