    "description_html": "We are seeking a<strong> Sr. Mechanical Engineer</strong> to develop innovative medical devices. In this role, you will work as part of a team helping drive products through their lifecycle from concept to delivery. The ideal candidate is an engineer with a maker-space mentality who is a motivated, hands-on, self-starter with strong critical thinking skills and sense of ownership. <br><br><strong>How you will make an impact as a Senior Mechanical Engineer:</strong><ul><li>Create innovative product designs from design concept to production, incorporating new research and machine learning technologies. </li><li>Work with multi-disciplinary team including electrical, software, industrial design, controls, and systems engineers, along with Quality, Regulatory, human factors, safety testing, and external vendors. </li><li>Interface with team to establish design requirements and product attributes. </li><li>Drive concept ideation – white board / CAD / FEA / prototypes. </li><li>Establish overall system architecture with team and define hardware subsystems. </li><li>Define tasks and estimate associated labor in support of program management schedules. </li><li>Develop FMEAs. Evaluate designs through simulation, prototype testing, usability studies, and engineering testing of requirements. </li><li>Transition concepts into products using 3D CAD Solid Modeling, selecting materials and processes, interacting with suppliers and manufacturers, and documenting the design input/output, and other development processes. </li><li>Demonstrate design viability considering human factors, risk, reliability, manufacturability, innovation, weight, and cost.  </li><li>Troubleshoot design failure modes to root cause and develop quick, effective solutions. </li><li>Develop engineering test methods and transfer them to design verification team. </li><li>Participate in technical review and approval for all mechanical component and assembly designs, analyses, and engineering testing. </li><li>Set an excellent example of mechanical engineering practices and provide a level of mentorship to less knowledgeable engineers </li></ul><strong>Skills you will need to be successful in this role:</strong><ul><li>Mechanical Engineering Degree (or similar) from a 4-year institution. </li><li>Minimum 5 years’ experience in product design, preferably in medical device and/or medical consumables. </li><li>Hands-on experience with mechanical design tools and software (CAD, FEA, etc.) and tolerance analysis. </li><li>Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. </li><li>Experience designing dynamic systems with electro-mechanical devices a plus </li><li>Must be able to work in an open group dynamic environment </li><li>Experience with DFM and scaling up for manufacturing is a bonus.  </li></ul><p><strong>About DEKA:</strong></p><p>One hour from the beach, Boston, and the mountains, the historic Amoskeag Millyard once housed the largest textile mills in the world.
