Discover all the possibilities of a career at Northside today.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p>Northside Cardiac Surgery  is seeking a Surgical Physician Assistant to join our growing surgical APP team. The team consists of 4 Cardiac Surgeons and 6 Cardiac Surgery PA’s.  Incoming PA will be involved with complex CV surgical cases as part of a team of highly specialized physicians and assistants. </p>\n<ul>\n <li> Rounding primarily in the CVICU</li>\n <li>         Endoscopic Vein & Radial Artery harvest using the Maquet and or Terumo systems</li>\n <li> First assistant as needed: cases include CABG, aortic and mitral valve repair/replacement, ECMO Insertion </li>\n <li> Perform procedures such as central line placement, arterial line placement and chest tube placement. </li>\n <li> Conducts patient interviews and documents patient histories, psychosocial histories, health status and medical problems or potential problems.</li>\n <li> Under the direction of a physician, performs physical examinations and specialized diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures including CABG, AVR, MVR, aortic surgery, VATS, placement and management of chest tubes wound suturing and dressing changes.</li>\n <li> Orders, schedules and/or performs laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures such as urinalyses, pregnancy and blood tests, and x-rays.</li>\n <li> Communicates necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled procedures to patient.</li>\n <li> In collaboration with physician, arranges for consultations with or referrals to other medical professional or community services.</li>\n <li> Educates patient on health habits, self-examinations, behavior management, need for follow-up assessments/treatments, at home medical care, medication and other issues related to medical or health problems.</li>\n <li> Maintains and updates current, accurate patient records including medical assessment, interventions, and evaluations.</li>\n <li> Participates in the care and medical decision making for preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative patients at Northside Gwinnett.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong><u>REQUIRED</u></strong></p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p>Certified as a Physician's Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).</p>\n<p>Licensed as appropriate in the state of Georgia.</p>\n<p>BLS, ACLS, and Healthcare Provider certifications required.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS but not required:</strong></p>\n<p>Minimum 2 years of experience as a Cardiac Surgery PA</p>\n<p>Proficient in endoscopic vein harvest with Maquet and or Terumo systems</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Schedule/Call Rotation: </strong></p>\n<p>Position is Full-time day-shift with rotating on-call assignments.
