Description

PREP COOK JOB DESCRIPTION PAY RANGE : $17.00-$19.00/hr STATUS: Hourly, Non-Exempt POSITION SUMMARY The Prep Cook at Villa Roma Resort is responsible for preparing ingredients and assisting with preliminary cooking duties according to established recipes and food preparation procedures. This position supports the culinary team by ensuring ingredients are properly prepared, portioned, and ready for service, contributing to an efficient kitchen operation and exceptional dining experience. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, dicing, and portioning food items according to specifications • Follow prep lists created by chefs to plan daily tasks • Prepare basic components of each dish on the menu • Maintain consistent food preparation standards and portion sizes • Label, date, and properly store all food items to maintain freshness and reduce waste • Assist line cooks during service periods as needed • Ensure all food items meet quality standards before distribution to line cooks • Maintain cleanliness and organization of walk-in coolers, freezers, and dry storage areas • Follow all food safety procedures and maintain proper food handling temperatures • Communicate effectively with kitchen management regarding inventory needs • Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils throughout shift • Assist with inventory control and inform supervisors of shortages QUALIFICATIONS • Previous kitchen experience or food preparation experience preferred • Basic knife skills and understanding of kitchen equipment • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices • Ability to read and follow standardized recipes • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment • Good organizational skills and attention to detail • Strong work ethic and dependability • Ability to work as part of a team • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds • High school diploma or equivalent preferred WORK ENVIRONMENT • Kitchen environment with exposure to temperature extremes, noise, and busy conditions • Will be required to work in areas that are hot, humid, and in close quarters with others • Must be able to lift, reach, bend, and stand for extended periods of time BENEFITS (After qualifying period) • Health insurance (for full-time employees) • Paid vacation (based on eligibility) • 401k retirement plan • Meal during shift • Employee discounts at resort facilities • Opportunity for growth and advancement Villa Roma Resort & Conference Center is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
