Description About the job: Kent is looking for a Project Controls Lead to join our Project team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the development, maintenance, and monitoring of project schedules across engineering and commissioning execution projects. This role will provide planning support to project teams, assist project controls functions, and contribute to effective schedule management to help achieve project objectives safely, efficiently, and within budget. The ideal candidate will possess strong P6 scheduling skills, analytical capabilities, and experience supporting industrial projects within the energy, oil & gas, chemicals, mining, power, or infrastructure sectors. Skills and Responsibilities: Responsibilities: Project Planning & Scheduling • Develop and maintain project schedules using Primavera P6. • Support the development of project execution schedules through engineering, commissioning, and startup phases. • Assist with the development of project work breakdown structures (WBS) and coding structures. • Support resource loading and manpower forecasting activities. • Maintain schedule baselines and incorporate approved schedule updates. • Assist with schedule reviews and identification of critical path activities. • Support schedule risk assessments and schedule optimization activities. Project Controls & Reporting • Monitor project progress and update schedules based on project team input. • Track schedule performance against approved baselines. • Generate weekly and monthly schedule reports and progress updates. • Assist with earned value management (EVM) reporting activities where applicable. • Support analysis of schedule trends and performance indicators. • Provide planning information to support project forecasting activities. Project Controls • Track project progress against WIP and maintain up to date records of project spend. • Update the project rundown spend weekly and prepare monthly PC reports for Client. • Work with invoicing team to prepare the monthly invoices and check for errors. Stakeholder Coordination • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and project teams to collect progress information and schedule updates. • Participate in planning and scheduling meetings with internal and external stakeholders. • Support implementation of recovery plans when schedule deviations occur. • Collaborate with project managers, discipline leads, and project controls personnel to maintain schedule alignment. Change Management & Risk Analysis • Assist in evaluating schedule impacts associated with project changes and scope growth. • Support schedule impact assessments and change management activities. • Maintain schedule records, assumptions, and supporting documentation. • Assist project teams in identifying schedule risks and potential mitigation measures. Continuous Improvement • Support implementation of project planning and scheduling best practices. • Assist with the development and maintenance of planning tools, templates, and procedures. • Participate in lessons learned and project closeout activities. • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the project controls function. In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development. Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience: Knowledge/Qualification/Training/Certification: • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related technical discipline. • Professional Engineer (PE) designation preferred or eligibility for registration. • Minimum 7+ years of project planning and scheduling experience supporting industrial projects. • High proficiency with Primavera P6. • Experience supporting EPC, EPCM, owner-operator, or brownfield project environments. • Understanding of project controls principles, critical path methodology (CPM), and schedule management practices. • Familiarity with earned value management (EVM) principles is considered an asset. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Power BI. • Familiarity with project management systems and reporting tools. • General understanding of engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup activities. • Experience supporting oil & gas, energy, petrochemical, mining, infrastructure, or power generation projects is preferred. Communication: • Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication skills. • Effective reporting and presentation capabilities. • Ability to communicate effectively with project teams, clients, and contractors. • Ability to participate in planning meetings and communicate schedule-related information clearly.
