The starting salary for new staff members is determined by considering the salary range assigned to the position and by reviewing the candidate’s qualifications for the job as compared with job responsibilities. Additional factors such as secondary language proficiency or advanced degrees that enhance performance may also be considered. A candidate’s salary may exceed the minimum amount based on factors such as experience, additional skills (e.g., secondary language proficiency), or pertinent degrees that enhance the individual’s contribution to the role but are not required. Position Overview: The Camp CBG Instructor instruct half- or full-day camp programs for children ages 2 to 12 on a part-time basis. Programs are hands-on, inquiry-based, outdoor science experiences. Camp CBG is a specialized program of the Education Department that focuses on the development, delivery, and evaluation of outdoor science, nature, art, and food-based educational programs for children.
Responsibilities
In the Camp CBG Instructor role, you will be responsible for the following:
Prepare syllabi and lesson plans in cooperation with the manager of Camp Programs. Instruct groups of 12 to 20 children. Supervise campers at pick-up and drop-off site. Attend pre-camp trainings. Request or purchase supplies in accordance with established procedures. Qualifications
Our ideal candidate will have the following:
Must be available for at least two weeks between June 8 and August 7, as well as necessary pre-camp meeting dates. Three years of teaching experience required. Preference is given to those with experience and/or interest in teaching science, environmental/outdoor education, and art, with early childhood or middle school experience. Bachelor of arts or bachelor of science degree in education or related field required. Physical Demands: Must be able to work outdoors, stand for long periods of time, and lift 25 pounds.
