Apply today to join our team!</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>As a Medical Technologist with VCH you will:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Be responsible to provide technical leadership and expertise in the provisioning of Laboratory and Diagnostic Services for the Central Coast (Bella Coola/Bella Bella).</li>\n <li>Participate in the planning and coordination of services; monitors the quality of technical work performed to ensure departmental standards are met and safety procedures are followed.</li>\n <li>Schedule staff activities and participates in recruitment and performance management; trains and coaches team members.</li>\n <li>Facilitate workplace solutions and the implementation of new techniques and procedures.</li>\n <li>Perform a variety of routine/complex tests utilizing manual and automated procedures/instruments, when required.</li>\n <li>Supervise designated staff. This work is framed within VCH’s commitments to our pillars of Indigenous Cultural Safety, Anti-Racism, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, and Planetary Health.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Education & Experience</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Certified by the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS).</li>\n <li>Bachelor of Science degree or an Advanced Registered certificate or completion of a supervisory/management program plus a minimum of five (5) years’ recent, related experience including two (2) years’ experience in a supervisory capacity, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.</li>\n <li>Regular travel within the Central Coast is required. Expenses will be reimbursed as per the Collective Agreement.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Knowledge & Abilities</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Comprehensive knowledge and recent related experience in related discipline.</li>\n <li>Comprehensive knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for Medical Laboratory Technologists established by the CSMLS and/or other relevant national professional associations.</li>\n <li>Demonstrated ability to function as a team member, leader and facilitator.</li>\n <li>Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with co-workers, medical personnel and other health care staff.</li>\n <li>Demonstrated ability to work under pressure in a constantly changing environment and to organize and prioritize competing demands</li>\n <li>Demonstrated ability to deal with and/or guide others in resolution of conflict issues.</li>\n <li>Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others</li>\n <li>Demonstrated ability to coach and deal with others effectively in a supportive and positive manner.</li>\n <li>Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workload.</li>\n <li>Demonstrated ability to manage own learning to meet future challenges within the organization.</li>\n <li>Basic knowledge of computerized systems relating to the laboratory.</li>\n <li>General knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths-based care.</li>\n <li>Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.</li>\n <li>Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safe care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations.</li>\n <li>Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.</li>\n <li>Skill in the operation of related equipment and in techniques appropriate to the laboratory.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Closing Statement</h2>\n<p>The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
