We are currently expanding and building our second proton vault, creating an exciting opportunity to add a full-time Proton Therapist to our team.</p>\n<p>This position will begin with training on a day shift and then transition to a mid-to-evening shift, with anticipated hours of 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM.  <strong><u>A generous evening shift incentive offered</u></strong>. Experience 4 seasons, hiking, biking, and several National Parks. The Radiation Oncology department has a tradition of academic and clinical excellence and occupies a spacious 30,000 square feet on the ground floor of the beautiful Huntsman Cancer Hospital on the University of Utah Salt Lake campus. EO/AA</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Performs radiation therapy treatments.</li>\n <li>Explains treatment procedures to patients.</li>\n <li>Prepares the treatment room and equipment, transfers patients to treatment area, and positions patients for treatment.</li>\n <li>Checks daily treatment parameters; delivers the prescribed dosage; and maintains treatment records in the patient's electronic medical chart.</li>\n <li>Performs weekly checks of the patient's electronic chart for completeness and accuracy.</li>\n <li>Photographs patients in the treatment position and observes patients for unusual skin reactions and side effects of treatment.</li>\n <li>Performs tumor localization using image guidance modalities.</li>\n <li>Maintains supplies and custom treat devices in the treatment room.</li>\n <li>Schedules patients for treatment on treatment machines.</li>\n <li>Performs daily quality and safety checks of the Linear Accelerator and other treatment equipment.</li>\n <li>Teaches clinical intern students.</li>\n <li>Performs service recovery as needed.</li>\n</ul>\n<h3>Knowledge / Skills / Abilities</h3>\n<ul>\n <li>Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Ability to perform verification checks and apply quality assurance procedures to ensure accuracy of dose calculations.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of life-span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Ability to follow department policies, procedures and checklists to ensure safe, accurate treatments.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Ability to bill correctly for procedures performed.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Ability to review and understand a treatment plan to accurately treat patients.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<h3>Qualifications</h3>\n<h3>Licenses Required</h3>\n<ul>\n <li>Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system.
