This position is responsible for administrative duties and communication relating to designated safety trainings. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>For more on Employee Perks, click on this link: Employee Benefits | YMCA of San Diego County (ymcasd.org)</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Schedule:</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Tuesdays + Thursdays 4pm </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Train course participants on aquatic procedures and policies</li>\n <li>Train course participants on member focused certification courses</li>\n <li>Follow trainer guidelines and deliver class components as established by the YMCA of San </li>\n <li>Diego County and YUSA as established </li>\n <li>Develop and maintain professional relationships with staff and members through proactive outreach</li>\n <li>Maintain and organize participant rosters and paperwork</li>\n <li>File and submit certification paperwork for training participants</li>\n <li>Follow Aquatic Trainer Guidelines to ensure completion of administrative work and trainings</li>\n <li>Ensure availability and prepare training room and pool space prior to class start, establish training coverage when needed</li>\n <li>Prepare equipment, paperwork and program guides prior to class start</li>\n <li>Communicate with training participants on status and progress of their performance</li>\n <li>Ensure online registrations and payment confirmation of program participants </li>\n <li>Set up auditory and visual technology to set up presentations and group work</li>\n <li>Under direction of the program director, accountable for leading and creating in-service trainings</li>\n <li>Escalate concerns or issues to director as appropriate</li>\n <li>Tracks blended learning options to ensure all prerequisites for certification trainings are met prior to attending in-person sessions </li>\n <li>Promote the YMCA in a positive manner and keep member service as the primary objective at all times </li>\n <li>Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act in an emergency situation</li>\n <li>Attention to detail</li>\n <li>Ability to speak to small and large groups</li>\n <li>Ability to adjust to trainees learning styles</li>\n <li>Ability to observe participants and provide corrective feedback </li>\n <li>Organizational skills</li>\n <li>Approachable, charismatic demeanor</li>\n <li>Effective communication</li>\n <li>Time management skills</li>\n <li>Other duties as assigned needs to be included to all roles</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li> Must meet minimum age required for certifications below</li>\n <li>2 years of experience in an aquatics environment teaching swim lessons or lifeguarding</li>\n <li>Experience co-facilitating Aquatic Trainings</li>\n <li>Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite</li>\n <li>Current Basic Lifeguarding Certification and must be from one of the following certifying organizations: </li>\n <li>American Red Cross, American Heart Association or American Safety & Health Institute.</li>\n <li>Current O2 certification and must be from one of the following certifying organizations: American Red Cross, American Heart Association or American Safety & Health Institute</li>\n <li>Current CPR and First Aid Certification and must be from one of the following certifying organizations: American Red Cross, American Heart Association or American Safety & Health Institute</li>\n <li>One of the following Certifications is required, additional Certification(s) dependent trainings performed:\n  <ul>\n   <li>Current YMCA or Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (must crossover to YMCA within 6 months)</li>\n   <li>Current YMCA Swim Lesson (YSL) Certification or American Red Cross WSI Certification (must obtain YSL within 6 months)</li>\n  </ul></li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><em>YMCA will consider qualified applicants with a criminal history pursuant to the San Diego County Fair Chance Ordinance and the California Fair Chance Act.
