Description

Sales Engineer - Central For over 80 years, LECO has been a leader in the development and production of world class laboratory instruments delivering state of the art products nationwide and across the globe. Located in St. Joseph, Michigan, LECO continues to be a family-owned company that understands the value of shared interests, long-term stability, loyalty, and trust. Position Summary: A qualified Sales Engineer exhibits an interest in chemical analysis and material testing. This individual will have a strong understanding of the sales process and play a key role in all field sales before, during, and after the sales process for LECO’s laboratory solutions for Metallurgical, Spectroscopy, Thermal and Elemental Analysis. The Sales Engineer should be a quick learner with strong listening and demonstration skills to showcase our product offerings in a compelling matter. This individual will interface and assist existing and new potential customers, qualify prospects, and work with the customer base to find solutions for their analytical and materials characterization problems and increase LECO’s market growth. This position focuses on LECO’s customer base in the Central Region including, Illinois with ideal location in Western Suburbs (Naperville, Oak Park, Elmhurst, Hinsdale, Downers Grove, Palos Hills, Palos Heights, Palos Park). LECO wouldn’t be an industry leader without its successful sales team. Position Responsibilities: Visit customers to demonstrate products and discuss sales opportunities daily in the assigned territory. Follow up on all leads provided by LECO. Prospecting and cold calling to identify new business opportunities. Complete timely quotations to customers working through support staff. Work closely with others at LECO to coordinate the overall selling efforts of the company. Complete work reviewing and improving a Sales Plan that includes an action plan for increasing sales to active customers and prospective customers, scheduling full coverage of the territory, maintaining a high level of in field time and continually improving product presentation skills and knowledge. Respond to all customer phone calls and emails in a timely manner. Utilize LECO’s CRM (Salesforce) package for completing daily tasks and management reporting. Timely completion of all periodic sales reports, calendar events, and opportunity management. Coordinate sales to key accounts within their territory. Participation and presentation in local professional organizations. Operate within LECO’s Code of Conduct. Learn and implement LECO’s strategic selling methodology. Position Requirements: Strong computer skills (i.e. Word, Excel PowerPoint) Good verbal and written communication skills. Able to learn the scientific principles and technology of the equipment. Sales territory management abilities a plus. Hands-on experience with a CRM, Salesforce, is a plus but not required Self-directed highly motivated strategic thinker. Ability to work within the USA without restrictions Education/Certifications: BS Degree preferably in Chemistry, Material Science, or other related disciplines EOE M/F/VET/Disability
