    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">JOB PURPOSE: </span></p>\n<p>Behavioral Health Technicians are mental health employees who provide hands-on care to individuals with varying degrees of mental illnesses and/or substance use disorders. BHT’s perform a vital, front-line function as they observe, monitor and interact with patients. The Behavioral Health Technician is responsible for providing services as part of a multi-disciplinary team to persons with mental illness and/or substance abuse problems.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist patients in articulating personal goals for recovery.<br></li>\n<li>Accompany patient on outings/appointments, always keeping them in line of sight.<br></li>\n<li>Provide direct one-on-one therapeutic interventions under the direction of their supervisor.<br></li>\n<li>Monitors all patients through the treatment experience, keeping patients in line of sight in the unit and regularly checking on patients in bedrooms or other areas.<br></li>\n<li>Diffusing situations where patients may be escalating or expressing concerns.<br></li>\n<li>Providing emotional support to patients.<br></li>\n<li>Alerting medical professionals to intervene in emergencies or changes in behavior.<br></li>\n<li>Assist patients in determining their treatment objectives.<br></li>\n<li>Teaches &amp; supports acquisition and utilization of skills needed to facilitate individual recovery.<br></li>\n<li>Observes patients to detect behavior patterns and reports observations to medical staff.<br></li>\n<li>Promotes knowledge of available service options and choices.<br></li>\n<li>Observes the progress patients make toward meeting their objectives.<br></li>\n<li>Co-Facilitates groups with counselors if there are over 12 residents in group.<br></li>\n<li>Works as a welcome greeter at the door for new residents.<br></li>\n<li>Assists in graduation bios, photos, and ceremony.<br></li>\n<li>Assists and supports patients in day-to-day activities including, but not limited to, waking routines, morning hygiene, meals, group therapy, nighttime routine, evening hygiene, observations, and free time.<br></li>\n<li>Monitors smoke breaks, phone calls and visitation.<br></li>\n<li>Maintain therapeutic records and data necessary in EMR to monitor progress.<br></li>\n<li>Attends weekly supervision meeting.<br></li>\n<li>Surveys Residents for Patient satisfaction<br></li>\n<li>Maintains Daily Group Therapy Board.<br></li>\n<li>Monitors Medication administration when needed to prevent diversion.</li>\n<li>Maintains Cleanliness of workspace.<br></li>\n<li>Other duties may be assigned.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">QUALIFICATIONS:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>High School Diploma or GED required.<br></li>\n<li>CPR/BLS Certification required.<br></li>\n<li>Must complete Ohio Peer Recovery Support Specialist within 1 year of hire.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">REQUIRED SKILLS OR ABILITIES:</span></p>\n<p>Required Skills for this position include but are not limited to:<br></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ability to interact with a multi-disciplinary team to assist in facets of the recovery program relating to physical health.<br></li>\n<li>Ability to communicate effectively with all members of the treatment team to ensure the safety of the client.<br></li>\n<li>Flexibility to adapt to schedule changes and assumption of responsibilities not delineated in the job description which is related to work as a member of an addiction treatment team.<br></li>\n<li>Attention to detail and organization.<br></li>\n<li>Computer literate with experience in a Windows environment.<br></li>\n<li>Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.<br></li>\n<li>Ability to prioritize work and work-related responsibilities.<br></li>\n<li>Excellent observation skills<br></li>\n<li>Customer/Client Focus<br></li>\n<li>Stress Management/Composure</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">EEO STATEMENT:</span><br>OVP Health provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability or genetics.
