Description

Description and Responsibilities Open Sky’s Community Supports Program is a Mass Health funded navigator service that provides case management and care coordination to individuals in the community. Individuals served in the program must have a mental health disorder or co-occurring disorder and be considered at high risk for admission to a 24-hour treatment setting. The Community Supports Recovery Coach uses lived experience with addiction and/or co-occurring mental health disorders to provide peer-level support and understanding to individuals served as they pursue their own personal path to recovery. They develop a relationship that is non-clinical in nature and is focused on overcoming barriers to recovery while linking individuals to recovery pathways and supports. Recovery Coaches also work with individuals to develop and implement a Wellness Plan, which consists of personal recovery goals that are identified using strength-based, self-directed recovery and a wellness planning process. Other Key Responsibilities: Cultivate mutual, non-directive, supportive relationships that promote empowerment and self-learning while maintaining strong boundaries/ethics. Share personal experiences with the purpose and intent to build trust and collaboration with the member. Demonstrate understanding of the principles of substance use disorders and their treatment; utilize engagement, harm reduction, stages of change and treatment, and motivational interviewing to address. Meet members wherever they are in the recovery process, including members who have not yet committed to changing their relationship with substance use. Support the development and maintenance of key skills. Qualifications High school diploma, GED or equivalent, required. Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record and reliable transportation, required. Must have lived experience with recovery and be able to provide recovery support safely and effectively. Must be willing and able to share path to recovery and lived experience of recovery with members. Must be a Certified Addiction Recovery Coach (CARC), or obtain certification within two years of employment.
