This role is a strategic partner with site leadership, field service, sales teams, and corporate EHS to ensure regulatory compliance, risk reduction, and employee engagement across a multi-site environment. Location(s): North America (multi-site) Business Function(s): Environment, Health & Safety Travel Requirements: 25% Essential Duties: This role drives the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS programs across North America, ensuring alignment with corporate standards while addressing regional and site-specific needs. EHS Strategy & Governance Develop and implement the North America EHS strategy aligned with corporate objectives and regulatory requirements Ensure consistent application of corporate EHS programs while allowing for site-specific needs Leverage best practices and guidance from Corporate EHS to drive regional performance Track emerging regulatory requirements and develop proactive compliance strategies Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, ANSI, and other applicable regulations Establish and manage DOT compliance programs for field service and sales organizations Conduct risk assessments, audits, and permit compliance reviews across sites and field operations Serve as primary regional liaison with external regulatory agencies (OSHA, EPA, DOT, etc.) Fleet, Operations & Distribution Center Safety Develop and implement fleet safety programs integrated into daily field service and sales activities Drive operational safety programs across manufacturing, distribution centers, and service locations Partner with Site Directors and Area Service Managers to embed safety into standard work Periodically assess and validate site emergency response and preparedness plans Incident Prevention, Investigation & Continuous Improvement Champion incident reduction through proactive hazard identification and mitigation Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses; ensure corrective actions are tracked and closed Implement job safety analyses, pre-startup safety reviews, and learning-from-events processes Perform trend analysis using leading and lagging indicators to identify improvement opportunities Training, Learning & Safety Culture Develop and deliver safety, environmental, and leadership training programs Oversee safety training systems and learning management system (LMS) effectiveness Build and sustain a safety-first culture through influence, engagement, and leadership development Support and coach safety committees, supervisors, and frontline leaders Stakeholder Engagement & Cross-Functional Collaboration Act as the EHS subject matter expert supporting sites, field service, sales, and corporate teams Collaborate cross-functionally to drive continuous improvement in EHS performance Lead regional participation in Corporate Collaboration Exchange initiativesManage customer and internal requests related to EHS, sustainability, product safety, and SDSs Workers’ Compensation, Security & Employee Protection Manage safety-related aspects of workers’ compensation programs, including claims, reporting, and return-to-work Partner with Corporate EHS to implement physical security measures protecting people, property, and information Support employee well-being through injury prevention and recovery-focused programs Required Experience & Education: Bachelor’s degree required; preference for Environmental Health & Safety or related field Minimum of 7 years of progressive EHS experience in a multi-site industrial, manufacturing, distribution, or transportation environment; 10 years of experience preferred Proven experience in operations safety, fleet safety, and distribution center (DC) safety Deep knowledge of DOT compliance, OSHA, EPA, and related EHS regulations Demonstrated experience conducting risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage data for decision-making and performance improvement Proven ability to train, coach, and communicate safety programs effectively across diverse teams Ability to influence and achieve results through collaboration without direct authority Excellent computer and systems proficiency; strong skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Willingness and ability to travel to operational and field service locations as needed Required Leadership Competencies: Collaboration: Builds strong partnerships across sites, field service, sales, and corporate functions Ensures stakeholders are well-informed and aligned on EHS expectations and initiatives Leverages diverse perspectives to drive meaningful EHS improvements Drives Safety Culture Through Influence Leads without direct authority by modeling safety-first behaviors Engages leaders and employees to take ownership of EHS outcomes Promotes shared accountability for risk reduction and compliance Strong decision Quality Applies sound judgment in complex, high-risk environments Balances regulatory requirements, operational realities, and business priorities Escalates issues appropriately while maintaining accountability Drives Results Consistently delivers measurable improvements in safety performance Uses data-driven insights to prioritize actions and allocate resources Demonstrates persistence and focus in achieving EHS objectives across a dispersed region Continuous Improvement & Innovation Identifies opportunities to enhance EHS processes and systems Applies best practices and lessons learned across sites Encourages proactive risk identification and learning-from-events culture Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $120,000 - $186,000 Posted salary ranges are made in good faith.
