Description
Job Summary:
The PRN Occupational Therapist is responsible for providing high-quality occupational therapy services on an as-needed basis. This position requires the therapist to evaluate and treat patients, develop individualized treatment plans, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
Evaluate patients' physical, cognitive, and emotional abilities and develop individualized treatment plans.
Implement therapeutic activities and exercises to improve patients' functional abilities and independence.
Monitor and document patients' progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
Educate patients and their families on exercises and activities to enhance recovery and promote independence.
Collaboration:
Work closely with providers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress and treatment plans.
Provide guidance and support to therapy assistants and other support staff.
Compliance and Documentation:
Maintain accurate and timely patient records, including evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
Ensure all documentation meets regulatory and organizational standards.
Adhere to all state and federal regulations and professional standards of practice.
Professional Development:
Stay current with advances in occupational therapy and participate in continuing education opportunities.
Maintain professional licensure and certifications as required.
Qualifications:
Education: A degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
Licensure: Current state licensure or eligibility for licensure as an Occupational Therapist.
Experience: Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred, but not required.
Skills:
Strong clinical skills and knowledge of occupational therapy principles and practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, move, and assist patients as needed.
Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
Manual dexterity and visual acuity to perform patient assessments and treatments.
Working Conditions:
The PRN Occupational Therapist will work on an as-needed basis, which may include weekends, holidays, and varying shifts.
The work environment includes a clinical setting with exposure to infectious diseases, bodily fluids, and other potential hazards.
