    "description_html": "<p>Popli Design Group (PDG) is seeking a Senior Substation Engineer to join our growing team.</p><p><br></p><p>The Senior Substation Engineer is required to work within a multi-discipline team to design efficient and reliable electrical substations. The engineer will coordinate his/her design activities to maintain project schedules and ensure successful project completion. The engineer will also assist the Estimating Team in preparation of estimates and project proposals.</p><p><br></p><p>Aside from engineering duties, PDG is looking for the incumbent to be able to provide a presence to our area clients. We are looking for someone to be our “face” to the client. Significant client face time and interaction is required. A strong business sense would be beneficial.</p><p><br></p><p>This position is accountable to provide design activities in accordance with applicable codes and standards, including PDG’s policies and procedures, such as Safety, Environmental, Quality Assurance and Quality Control.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Specific duties include:</strong></p><ul><li>Prepare conceptual design of the complex projects</li><li>Carry out/review/analyze complex technical studies and project scopes</li><li>Preparation of project specifications for material and equipment purchase and installation.</li><li>Review the design based memorandum, detailed engineering scope and guide the assigned discipline engineers to align the engineering deliverables per project requirements.</li><li>Work closely with peers to ensure accurate delivery and thorough electrical design that will meet industry standards and specifications, and meet good engineering practices.</li><li>Design of electrical substation facilities including site and bus work layouts, ground grids, conduit layout, lightning protection, control house design, lighting studies, and metering.</li><li>Review of internal and external designs for code compliance, good design practice and constructability.</li><li>Resolving site queries, attending site meetings and performing site inspections during the construction phase of projects.</li><li>Maintaining complete project documentation with respect to substation design and construction, including all completion packages, as-built requirements and return data information.</li><li>Making and maintaining appropriate commitments to project teams and coordinating design activities with multi-disciplined project team members.</li><li>Maintaining good working relationships with internal groups that support projects.</li><li>Maintaining good working relationships with material suppliers, contractors, and any others that affect the quality, schedule and cost of projects.</li><li>Mentoring and providing guidance to developing engineers within the department.</li><li>Lead the development of design standards</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Required Skills</strong></p><ul><li>Experience with Autodesk Inventor and Substation Design Suite (SDS) is a strong plus.</li><li>Experience with WinIGS and CYMCAP is preferred</li><li>Strong client focus.</li><li>Knowledge of codes and standards such as IEEE and ANSI</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Experience/Education</strong></p><ul><li>A degree Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.</li><li>Professional Engineering (PE) License</li><li>A minimum of 7 years’ experience in substation design.</li><li>A Valid Driver's License and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>About PDG</strong></p><p>PDG is a well-established multi-disciplinary architecture and engineering firm that has been serving clients since 1982.
