NPH is the national leader in providing medical and neurobehavioral care to patients in acute psychiatric distress. Groups for MS-DRG assignment and optimization following coding guidelines.</li>\n <li>Assembles and analyzes medical records timely and accurately for quantitative deficiencies.</li>\n <li>Maintains master index and other logs.  Assists with record studies and projects.</li>\n <li>Completes Clinical Documentation Improvement process including querying providers as deemed necessary.</li>\n <li>Analyzes charts for Quality Assurance.</li>\n <li>Assists with other responsibilities of the HIM Department.</li>\n <li>Answers and directs telephone calls; takes and relays messages; greets public and staff; ability to multitask. Assists in other areas as needed.</li>\n <li>Completes required competencies; attends regular meetings; demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.</li>\n <li>Floats to other units and/or facilities as assigned.</li>\n <li>Maintains a professional approach with confidentiality.  Assures protection and privacy of health information as attained through written, electronic or oral disclosures.</li>\n <li>Displays concern and initiative.  Is resourceful and calm in emergencies.</li>\n <li>Is prompt and efficient with minimal absences.</li>\n <li>Cooperates and maintains good rapport with nursing staff, medical staff, other departments, and visitors.</li>\n <li>Seeks guidance, remains knowledgeable of, and complies with, all applicable federal and state laws, as well as hospital polices that apply to assigned duties.</li>\n <li>Complies with hospital expectations regarding ethical behavior and standards of conduct.</li>\n <li>Complies with federal and hospital requirements in the areas of protected health information and patient privacy.</li>\n <li>Performs other duties as requested or assigned.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>High School Diploma or GED required. Associate's degree in Health Information Management, Medical Coding, or a healthcare-related field preferred.</li>\n <li>Current AHIMA or AAPC credential required.</li>\n <li>Minimum of 1 year of coding experience within an acute care hospital setting required. </li>\n <li>Annual coding training required. </li>\n <li>Experience in ICD-10, DRG optimization, and abstracting clinical information for billing preparation and statistical purposes required.</li>\n</ul>",
