We are seeking an Intermediate Teacher to join our team, working collaboratively to enhance the learning experience of students at Lalme’ Iwesawtexw (Seabird Island Community School).</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Under the direction of the School Principal, the Teacher provides culturally informed instruction, assessment, and classroom management to students. This role involves preparing and delivering lessons in alignment with curriculum standards, fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment, and maintaining positive relationships with students, parents, and the broader community.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">The Teacher will also engage in community relations activities to support student success and well-being, while participating in professional development and school meetings to ensure continuous growth and alignment with school policies and educational best practices.</span><br></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">First Peoples Principles of Learning </span><br>• Learning ultimately supports the well-being of the self, the family, the community, the land, the spirits, and the ancestors. <br>• Learning is holistic, reflexive, reflective, experiential, and relational (focused on connectedness, on reciprocal relationships, and a sense of place). <br>• Learning involves recognizing the consequences of one’s actions. <br>• Learning involves generational roles and responsibilities. <br>• Learning recognizes the role of indigenous knowledge. <br>• Learning is embedded in memory, history, and story. <br>• Learning involves patience and time. <br>• Learning requires exploration of one’s identity. <br>• Learning involves recognizing that some knowledge is sacred and only shared with permission and/or in certain situations. </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">This position has a start date of August 31st, 2026, and an end date of June 30th, 2027.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(186, 55, 42); font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">What You'll Do</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Provide student-focused instruction of assigned grade or class including but not limited to preparation, assessment, </span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">and classroom management.</span><br></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Complete all teaching and reporting requirements.</span><br></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Actively participate in Education Jurisdiction implementation.</span><br></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Implement and support students in outdoor, land-based lessons.</span><br></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Communicate with students, and parents/guardians.</span><br></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Work with colleagues as part of a collaborative team.</span><br></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Use assessment and intervention techniques for students who experience learning or attendance difficulties.</span><br></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Attend school events as requested or required.</span><br></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Participate in training and professional development.</span><br></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Attend meetings with administration as required to address any emerging issues.</span><br></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Abide by all policies of Seabird Island, Seabird Island Community School, the BC Ministry of Education, Independent </span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Schools Branch and ensure compliance with the Teacher Code of Conduct.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Other Duties</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Additional responsibilities as needed to support the community and uphold our shared values. </span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Working / Special Conditions</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Initial and ongoing employment is subject to submission of a clear Criminal Record Review Program Check to ensure the safety and trust of the communities we serve. This commitment supports our collective work, the community, and the responsibilities of this role.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(186, 55, 42); font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">What You Bring</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Bachelor’s degree in Education or higher, and current practicing British Columbia (BC) Certified Teacher qualifications OR Eligible for B.C.
