Description
The Manager of Information Technology and Systems oversees a team and is responsible for the organization’s technology strategy, ensuring systems and digital capabilities support business growth, operational efficiency, and strategic goals. This role converts business needs into effective technology solutions, driving digital transformation efforts and aligning systems, data, and processes with organizational priorities. With full responsibility for technology outcomes across the organization and its related businesses, the role manages enterprise applications, IT performance, risk, and cost control, while working with a Managed Service Provider (MSP) for daily operations. The role balances operational stability with strategic advancement and leads key initiatives such as ERP modernization and cross functional transformation, working closely with leadership, users, vendors, and partners to optimize the value of technology.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities of the IT and Systems Manager are detailed below, but not limited to the following:
Collaborate with key partners to develop digital strategies and plans that enhance business operations, improve user effectiveness, and strengthen systems knowledge and control across the organization.
Align IT initiatives with business objectives, translating priorities into clear scopes, timelines, and delivery plans.
Stay current with emerging technologies, identifying and recommending innovations that improve operational efficiency and profitability.
Serve as the organization wide accountable partner for all business applications and information systems, including ERP, finance, operations, manufacturing, reporting, and integrations.
Manage, inspire, mentor, and coach IT staff to excel in their roles and elevate departmental performance.
Guide the team in adapting to changing business needs, new projects, and evolving technologies.
Attract, develop, and retain high performing IT professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrades, and support of IT systems, which include servers, computers, operating systems, phones, software applications, and equipment.
Provide expert support during system upgrades, installations, and maintenance.
Lead efforts in system development, improvements, and integrating new systems with existing infrastructure.
Develop standard operating procedures, best practices, and training programs for IT staff and end users.
Oversee the transition from legacy systems to a standardized ERP platform, ensuring data integrity, process alignment, and organizational readiness.
Maintain operational reliability, security, and responsiveness across all locations and systems.
Oversee end user services, including help desk and technical support, and ensure accountability for performance through Managed Service Providers (MSPs).
Act as the lead during incidents, outages, and urgent operational issues, coordinating responses and making real time decisions aligned with business priorities.
Evaluate internal customer needs and identify opportunities for IT service improvement.
Plan, execute, and deliver IT initiatives, balancing strategic transformation with daily operations.
Lead the business change management for IT projects, ensuring effective communication, planning, adoption, and partner engagement.
Coordinate plans with site leadership and functional teams to reduce reactive or emergency driven work through improved governance and planning.
Manage IT budgets, purchasing, and financial planning for the department.
Negotiate and manage vendor and consultant contracts, service agreements, and staff augmentation arrangements.
Ensure vendor performance, contract compliance, and alignment with operational and financial goals.
Oversee telecommunications infrastructure, policies, procedures, and development plans.
Develop and enforce IT policies and procedures, including architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service delivery.
Maintain IT governance, risk management, and compliance with both internal and external standards.
Ensure that documentation, policies, and procedures are kept current and accessible for staff and end users.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL, PMP) are an asset
Minimum 10 years of progressive IT experience, including leadership responsibility for business systems and enterprise applications
Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing, mentoring, and coaching IT teams
Proven success leading ERP implementations, system consolidations, or digital transformation initiatives, ideally in multi entity environments
Experience supporting manufacturing, industrial, or operations driven organizations
Strong experience managing Managed Service Providers (MSPs), vendors, and external partners
Demonstrated experience in IT financial management, including budgeting, contracts, and governance
Technical Skills/Competence
Proven leader with the ability to attract, develop, and retain high performing teams
Strong coaching and team development capabilities, fostering accountability and continuous growth
Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non technical participants
Strong partnership management, including executive leadership and cross functional teams
Strong understanding of business operations, financial analysis, and reporting
Ability to align IT strategy with organizational goals and execute practical, results driven plans
Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands on, operational execution
Solid understanding of enterprise applications, systems architecture, and software development lifecycles
Strong technical troubleshooting and third level support capabilities
Experience with IT governance, risk management, and policy/procedure development
Advanced project management skills with a track record of delivering complex initiatives on time
Highly organized, with effective time and resource management
Demonstrated ability to proactively solve problems and drive continuous improvement
Track record of innovation and executing well defined technology strategies.
Ability to plan and execute bold yet sensible business strategies
Sound knowledge and understanding of financial analysis and reporting
Ability to be operationally focused while always thinking strategically

The expected salary range for this position is $110,000 $140,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, internal equity, and business needs.
