With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service.</p>\n<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>Joby Aviation is seeking a Water Jet Technician with machining experience who is a passionate individual, self-motivated and adaptable in our quick turnaround prototype environment. This role is to assist the water jet, fabrication and machine shop teams in cutting parts for fixtures, jigs, test articles, and flight components while working closely with our internal engineering and planning teams. A willing attitude is very important for this position and goes a long way when thinking through a variety of solutions to complete jobs on time due to the fast pace of parts flowing through the shop. This position is hands-on experience, we aim to attract, retain, develop and motivate talent that possess the skills and leadership necessary to grow our team.  </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Setup, program, and operate waterjets (Flow and Omax) safely and efficiently.</li>\n <li>Work with a wide variety of raw materials and achieve high quality precision parts.</li>\n <li>Handle raw materials from rough stock to post processed finished parts.</li>\n <li>Ability to shift between jobs when priorities change and communicating with co-workers.</li>\n <li>Willing to juggle multiple projects often sidelining some projects to expedite others.</li>\n <li>Perform a variety of manual post machining operations and follow safety standards (Deburring, tapping, burnishing, tumblers, knee mill, lathe, etc).</li>\n <li>Perform a variety of CNC post machining operations including Prototrak and Haas 3 axis.</li>\n <li>Demonstrate ability to select, procure, and organize appropriate tooling and fixturing for projects based on available tooling library, part material, geometry, features, tolerances, and system capability.</li>\n <li>Collaborate with team members to develop a standardized process for both water jet, and post processing and machining operations to increase efficiency and productivity. </li>\n <li>Use of inspection equipment such as calipers, different micrometer types, and more.</li>\n <li>Lift and maneuver heavy plate materials safely utilizing a forklift or other means of handling.</li>\n <li>Interpret GD&T, 3D CAD software, design documents and verbal design instructions to meet part requirements.</li>\n <li>Perform other high tolerance post processing procedures.</li>\n <li>Communicate job progress through a variety of channels, verbally, Jira (job tickets), Slack, and other process tracking platforms.</li>\n <li>Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly.</li>\n <li>Follows inventory management requirements.</li>\n <li>Perform basic preventive maintenance servicing and repairs on equipment.</li>\n <li>Communicate effectively in a rapid prototyping environment.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Required</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>HS Diploma or GED equivalent</li>\n <li>2+ Years experience in relevant work as a Machinist or Water Jet Technician</li>\n <li>Ability to safely operate, program and set up water jets, and CNC & Manual 3 axis Mills.</li>\n <li>Ability to safely operate handheld equipment, drill presses, saws, grinders, sheet metal fabrication equipment.</li>\n <li>Experience in post processing platework with hand tools and other equipment.</li>\n <li>Follows all Joby safety procedures and standards, including Team Standards.</li>\n <li>Available to work overtime and weekends.</li>\n <li>Ability to lift 50 lbs unaided.</li>\n <li>Able to interpret GD&T, blueprints, technical drawings, specifications and follow written instructions.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Desired</h2>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>10+ years of working experience in relevant industry.</li>\n <li>Prior experience with the following: CNC laser, plasma cutter, water jet, router, mill, press brakes.</li>\n <li>Familiarity with waterjet programming softwares, (Flow OR OMAX/Protomax, preferred).</li>\n <li>Familiarity with ProtoTrak (or other conversational programming) knee mills.</li>\n <li>Familiarity with Haas 3 axis (2004 Controller).</li>\n <li>Basic understanding of G code editing.</li>\n <li>Prior Fabrication experience.</li>\n <li>Familiarity with 5S organization and standards.</li>\n <li>Familiarity with CAD/CAM software (Fusion360, HSM Works, Solidworks, Catia).</li>\n <li>Familiarity with sheet metal software (SigmaBend preferred).</li>\n <li>Familiarity with CNC Fiber laser cutters.</li>\n <li> </li>\n</ul>\n<p>The target base pay for this position is $31-$46/hr.
