As a comprehensive manufacturer of engineered composite products, Carfair Composites supplies quality fiberglass components to the original equipment manufacturers operating in agriculture, automotive, construction, transportation, commercial, food processing, and medical industries. Position Summary: As a Production Associate, you will support the manufacturing, preparation, finishing, and inspection of fiberglass and composite parts and components used in transit vehicles for New Flyer and MCI. This is a hands on production role where you may prepare molds and materials, build fiberglass components, sand, buff, trim, grind, drill, route, repair, and inspect parts to ensure they meet safety, quality, and first time quality standards. WHAT YOU WILL DO: Support the production of molded fiberglass and composite parts using processes such as hand lay up, vacuum infusion, trimming, sanding, grinding, and finishing. Use hand tools, power tools, and pneumatic tools, including angle grinders, palm sanders, drills, routers, cutters, and polishers. Prepare molds, materials, and work areas for composite part production, including setup, cleaning, and basic mold maintenance. Remove, trim, sand, buff, repair, finish, and inspect molded composite parts for surface defects, air bubbles, rough edges, incorrect dimensions, and other quality concerns before they move to painting, assembly, shipment, or the next stage of production. Use work instructions, blueprints, jigs, guides, and measurement tools to complete composite parts to specification while supporting safety, quality, and first time quality standards. Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in safe working condition while supporting Lean and 5S practices.   WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL: 1–2 years of experience in a production, manufacturing, assembly, fabrication, repair, trades, or other hands on work environment is preferred. Exposure to composite manufacturing, fiberglass, molded parts, sanding, grinding, trimming, finishing, or repair is considered a strong asset. Hands on experience using hand tools, power tools, or pneumatic tools, such as sanders, grinders, drills, cutters, polishers, routers, or similar equipment. Able to follow work instructions, identify defects, and support safety and first time quality standards in a fast paced team environment while learning composite manufacturing processes, fiberglass techniques, molded part finishing, and basic mold maintenance. Able to meet respirator fit requirements, including being clean shaven where required, and comfortable performing physical work throughout the shift, including standing for extended periods and handling materials generally between 20–50 lbs.
