Overview POSITION TITLE (Oracle title) COORDINATING TEACHER WORKING TITLE Coordinating Teacher-Family Engagement SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT Title I LOCATION Crossroads I, Cary, NC PAY GRADE Classroom Teacher (Not eligible for National Board pay) FLSA STATUS Exempt ELIGIBILITY FOR EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT Yes WORK WEEK SCHEDULE Monday-Friday (occasional evenings and weekends) Position is available for a hybrid telework workweek POSITION PURPOSE: Plans, supports, and implements family engagement efforts to engage Title I funded schools’ families with their students’ academic achievement and with school system procedures and protocols, in order for families to contribute positively to their students’ success. Develops, revises, and monitors required procedural and guidance documents in alignment w/ federal regulatory guidance. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs) Extensive knowledge of current Family Engagement research; specifically The Dual Capacity-Building Framework for Home-School Partnership Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; knowledge of web-based applications; Critical thinking skills with the ability to solve problems; Ability to present information and provide training to large and small groups; Effective time management skills; Ability to perform data analysis and make data-driven decisions; Ability to organize, design, and deliver parent learning experiences related to literacy and math instruction; Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, students, parents, community agencies/organizations, businesses, and faith-based institutions. EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university; Three years of experience in education within public education; Experience designing and delivering professional development to adults in large and small group settings; Experience working with diverse learners. CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS Must hold or be eligible for a North Carolina Professional Educators License; Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license according to the State of North Carolina requirements. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university; Demonstrates completed coursework in evidence-based Family Engagement practices; Bi-lingual (English and Spanish); Experience building relationships with families in a collaborative, asset based partnership. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Supports planning and implementation of family engagement efforts at Title I funded school levels to support engagement of Title I funded School families with their students’ achievement. Supports family engagement survey data retrieval, analysis & reporting for Title I funded schools. Facilitates workshops to support and empower parents to positively impact the educational success of their children and to become effective advocates for themselves and their children. Facilitates professional learning for Title I funded schools to build capacity for Family Engagement, based on the Dual Capacity-Building Framework for Home-School Partnerships. Works collaboratively within Academics, Title I, English as a Second Language (ESL), Special Education, Student Support Services, the McKinney-Vento program, and other programs and departments to ensure that parent events are aligned with school system initiatives. Assists in developing, revising, and monitoring procedural and guidance documents in compliance with Title I regulations and guidelines. Performs other related duties as assigned. WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, staff members of external funding agencies, and the community. Work is considered light physical work, requiring the exertion of up to ten pounds of force. The work frequently involves driving automotive equipment.
