Description
We are pleased to announce that the Statewide Programs Unit within the Court Services Division of the State Court Administrator’s Office is looking for an experienced Behavior Health Coordinator.
The Behavior Health Coordinator provides subject matter expertise regarding behavior and mental health in the courts. This position staffs the Mental Health Justice Initiative Advisory Committee, working with the chair(s) to curate an agenda, create a work plan, and propose recommendations to Judicial Council. This position coordinates with judicial, behavioral health, and other state-operated services on mental health and court-related issues, including Minnesota Competency Attainment and Direct Care and Treatment programs, to ensure compliance with statutory and program requirements and to improve district court operations. The Behavior Health Coordinator works closely with the Psychological/Psychiatric Examiner Services Program to improve civil commitment and criminal competency processes in the courts. This position supports transformation work in the criminal justice system related to mental health through statewide projects.
Job Duties
The following are examples of major job duties:
Provide court-focused expertise on behavioral health issues, including competency and civil commitments. Serve as primary staff for the Mental Health Justice Initiative Advisory Committee, including drafting and distributing meeting notices, agendas, background materials, meeting summaries, and other project documentation; seek experts to present information to the committee; and advise committee members on branch-related policy and procedural issues connected to the committee’s work. Facilitate communication and coordination among courts, state agencies, community providers, and other government partners. Provide project management, including coordinating and/or leading pilot projects, for all behavioral health-related projects led by the branch; assist in project evaluations. Analyze behavioral health-related proposals, policies, statutes, and court rules, and developing recommendations for system improvement. Develop tools and guidelines for use by internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with federal and state rules and best practices. Conduct and/or coordinate education and training opportunities for court personnel, judicial officers and justice partners. Typical Qualifications
Below are the past experiences that will enable success in the role. For education requirements listed, the equivalent number of years of related experience may serve as a substitute.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in political science, public affairs, criminal justice, sociology, or related area. 3-5 years of experience in court administration, criminal justice, social science research, or the behavioral health field. Preferred Qualifications
Extensive experience working with justice-involved individuals living with mental illness. Extensive experience analyzing and presenting data and other program-related materials to varied groups, including executive leadership. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of the theory, principles, and practices of court administration. Familiarity with current state and national developments in the intersection of mental health and the justice system. Ability to lead employees on projects and work products in a manner conducive to high morale and productivity. Ability to support, lead, and advise task forces and committees. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to collaborate with external and internal stakeholders. Ability to plan and conduct meetings and direct projects effectively. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Salary: The expected starting salary range for external candidates is $40.08 - $51.11 per hour ($83,687 - $106,718 annually). The full salary range for this position is $40.08 - $62.14 per hour ($83,687 - $129,748 annually). This position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for State of MN employee benefits.
Position Logistics
This full-time position is classified as Court Operations Analyst II. The position will typically work normal business hours Monday through Friday, with occasional hours outside normal business required. This work will be conducted in a hybrid environment with a minimum of 4-6 days per month in person at the Minnesota Judicial Center in St. Paul, Minnesota. Additionally, business travel is required 4-6 times per year, primarily in-state.

"ShortDescriptionStr": "We are pleased to announce that the Statewide Programs Unit within the Court Services Division of the State Court Administrator’s Office is looking for an experienced Behavior Health Coordinator. \nThe Behavior Health Coordinator provides subject matter expertise regarding behavior and mental health in the courts. This position staffs the Mental Health Justice Initiative Advisory Committee, working with the chair(s) to curate an agenda, create a work plan, and propose recommendations to Judicial Council. This position coordinates with judicial, behavioral health, and other state-operated services on mental health and court-related issues, including Minnesota Competency Attainment and Direct Care and Treatment programs, to ensure compliance with statutory and program requirements and to improve district court operations. The Behavior Health Coordinator works closely with the Psychological/Psychiatric Examiner Services Program to improve civil commitment and criminal competency processes ",
