This individual must love working and leading a late news team across platforms. This person will lead editorial decision-making during the late news hours, ensuring coverage is urgent, accurate, audience-focused, and aligned with WRAL&rsquo;s multiplatform content strategy.</p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\">This role requires a strong newsroom leader who thrives during breaking news, communicates effectively under pressure, and helps drive WRAL&rsquo;s &ldquo;new, now, next&rdquo; approach to storytelling across television, streaming, digital, and social platforms.</p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Editorial Leadership</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Lead evening editorial direction across all WRAL platforms.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Oversee content execution for WRAL.com, social media, YouTube, WRAL News+, and late newscasts.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Coordinate breaking news coverage and make real-time editorial decisions.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Ensure strong communication and leadership in the control room during high-pressure situations.</li></ul><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Newscast Oversight</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Provide editorial oversight for WRAL&rsquo;s 10pm and 11pm newscasts.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Fill in as a newscast producer as needed.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Build and adjust rundowns that prioritize breaking news, accountability journalism, enterprise reporting, and WRAL&rsquo;s content cornerstones.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Maintain high standards for pacing, storytelling, writing, and production execution.</li></ul><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Coaching &amp; Story Development</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Coach reporters, MMJs, producers, and field crews on WRAL&rsquo;s editorial strategy and storytelling expectations.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Guide story angles, live coverage plans, and multiplatform storytelling opportunities.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Review and approve scripts, teases, and digital copy to ensure accuracy, clarity, urgency, and strong storytelling.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Encourage accountability journalism, deeper context, and distinctive coverage that separates WRAL from competitors.</li></ul><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Multiplatform Strategy</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Ensure content is optimized for television, digital, streaming, YouTube, and social audiences.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Collaborate with digital and streaming teams to maximize audience engagement.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Identify opportunities for live coverage, digital-first storytelling, and expanded audience reach.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Use analytics and audience insights to help inform editorial decisions.</li></ul><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Qualifications</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field preferred.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Minimum 5 years of experience producing television news or leading multiplatform newsroom coverage.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Strong editorial judgment and leadership skills in fast-paced breaking news environments.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Excellent writing, storytelling, communication, and line-producing abilities.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Strong understanding of digital publishing, social media strategy, and audience engagement.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Experience with newsroom systems, CMS platforms, and video editing tools.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and breaking news coverage as needed.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Other duties as assigned.</li></ul><p style='color: rgb(0, 0, 0);
