Job Overview: The Bar-back is an essential team member responsible for assisting bartenders at the luxurious Hotel Effie restaurant, Ovide. This role ensures the bar is well-stocked, clean, and organized, allowing bartenders to serve guests efficiently. The Bar-back will support high-quality guest service and contribute to the smooth operation of banquet functions. Key Responsibilities: Stocking and Inventory Management: Replenish bar supplies such as liquor, beer, wine, mixers, ice, glassware, and garnishes. Ensure bar stations are fully stocked before and during events. Assist in inventory counts and communicate any shortages to the bartender or banquet manager. Cleaning and Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, including wiping down surfaces, cleaning glassware, and disposing of trash. Ensure bar equipment is clean and in good working condition. Assist with post-event cleanup and resetting the bar area for the next function. Customer Service Support: Assist bartenders in providing excellent service by preparing garnish trays, refilling ice bins, and other preparatory tasks. Ensure guests have a positive experience by maintaining a courteous and professional demeanor. Event Preparation: Assist in setting up and breaking down bar stations. Help with transporting and organizing beverages and supplies. Compliance and Safety: Follow all resort policies and procedures, including safety and sanitation standards. Adhere to state and local laws regarding alcohol service and safety regulations. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, often for the duration of the event. Capability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, including kegs, cases of liquor, beer, and wine, and bags of ice. Ability to perform repetitive motions, such as bending, stooping, and reaching. Physical stamina to move quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Good manual dexterity for handling glassware and bar tools. Visual acuity to ensure cleanliness and proper stocking levels. Qualifications: Previous experience in a bar or restaurant environment is preferred. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work in a team and follow instructions from bartenders and banquet managers. Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude. Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by banquet event schedules. Must be of legal age to handle alcohol in the state of Florida.
