Description Description: Must be able to coordinate the daily activities of the cleaning of academic buildings. Work closely with Campus and Building Services Manager and Assistant Manager to serve as a liaison for the department particularly in daily task scheduling and basic supervision for the department. Provide excellent customer service Responsibilities Primary Duties Campus and Building Services 2nd Shift Supervisor 1. Supervise and train Campus and Building Services workers. Monitor and inspect work of Campus and Building Services workers in assigned area to ensure work is being done properly. 2. Help with the onboarding process of all new employees. 3. Learn and use translating apps to train and work with all staff that English is their second language. 4. Supervise and Complete timesheets, appraisals, follow up on computer trainings and all other relevant paperwork personally for 2nd shift staff members. 5. Work with and supervise weekend staff. Answer questions and cover weekend work due to call offs when possible or on a rotating basis with Assistant manager so both can have some time off from work. 6. Identify and perform daily periodic and project cleaning; event planning and prep; locking and unlocking; and basic maintenance tasks in assigned areas. Ensure the best possible level of cleanliness. 7. Perform inspections of work in assigned area using the Compuclean inspection app. 8. Assist Campus and Building Services Assistant Manager with staff scheduling and have ability to create schedules in absence of Campus and Building Services Assistant Manager 9. As part of the team, be able to assist or replace Campus and Building Services staff members in completing tasks as needed. 10. Assist Campus and Building Services Assistant Manager with employee and student evaluations. 11. Sit in and be a witness to all Staff disciplinary meetings with Assistant manager. 12. Participate in staff interviews when possible. 13. Review and sign all 2nd shift student workers appraisals and disciplinary documentation after the student supervisor completes them. 14. Supervise student workers in various buildings when Student supervisors are off for one day or extended time. 15. Maintain equipment, including maintaining data, repair requests, etc. Communicate concerns related to equipment to the Campus and Building Services Assistant Manager immediately. 16. Train staff on equipment use, care and maintenance. 17. Oversee summer office cleanouts and inspect work and communicate to dayshift manager when the task is finished. 18. Maintain consistent and reliable attendance. Secondary Duties 1. Provide cleaning coverage for absent employees as requested. 2. . Organize, coordinate and perform set-up/tear-down of classes, special events, and conference accommodations. This includes moving furniture and equipment as needed. Collaborate with other shifts/departments as needed. 3. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education Required High School or equivalent. Working knowledge of supervisory techniques, and custodial procedures, and knowledge as would be acquired through courses of study and/or 3-5 years experience in institutional cleaning. Education Preferred Experience Required 5 year work experience. Proficient in custodial operations and equipment procedures. Experience Preferred Custodial or events experience preferred. Skills, Characteristics Required • Ability to read and follow directions • Ability to clean and maintain areas as directed • Ability to communicate effectively with others • Ability to demonstrate respect for others and act as a role-model to students • Basic computer proficiency including the use of campus e-mail system and software programs used to perform job Special Working Conditions Must be able to lift 50lbs, stoop, kneel and stretch as demanded by cleaning/event set-up tasks. Position is scheduled in shifts which may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays. There will be occasional shift variations to include extended or adjusted hours as needed for coverage. This position is essential; employees providing essential services must report to work as scheduled by their supervisor in the event of an emergency closing or delay. In the event of a snowstorm, this position may be responsible for off-hours snow removal. Driving Requirements This position requires the operation of a Messiah University owned or leased vehicle and the employee must possess and maintain a current driver license, meet the established criteria, and abide by all policies and procedures as presented in the University's Fleet Vehicle Use Policy.
