This Mechanical Engineer will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for maintaining and sustaining the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong><em>Open to internal and external candidates. </em></strong></p>\n<p><strong><em> </em></strong></p>\n<p><strong>Job Summary</strong></p>\n<p>As a valuable member of our team, you would directly impact the ability to conduct ground testing in the blow down wind tunnel supporting a variety of test set ups such as propulsion, materials, structures, store separation, and directed energy lethality/survivability by executing system engineering responsibilities overseeing installation, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and upgrades of major mechanical equipment to ensure test readiness to meet customers’ requirements. </p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Job Duties:</strong></p>\n<p>Some of the specific duties of a mechanical systems engineer include (this is NOT an exhaustive list):</p>\n<p>Under the direction of a more senior engineer:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Respond when systems malfunction, troubleshooting and directing corrective maintenance activities (or calling in the appropriate systems engineer for additional support) ensuring a timely return to service</li>\n <li>Update and maintain system documentation for systems of responsibility</li>\n <li>Work with multiple organizations such as design engineering, fabrication shops, DoD client, and other contractors</li>\n <li>Develop with Asset Health Assurance personnel advanced maintenance plans</li>\n <li>Conduct and write up system safety hazard analyses and write clear work instructions for operation and maintenance</li>\n <li>Assess and communicate risk to stakeholders</li>\n <li>Develop estimates for improvement projects</li>\n <li>Work with planners, schedulers, and craft supervisors to safely plan and execute projects including maintenance work, upgrades, and test projects</li>\n <li>Assist craft personnel with troubleshooting and oversee their work; provide technical leadership and guidance</li>\n <li>It is a condition of employment to wear company issued Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.</li>\n <li>Perform other related duties as required.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Basic Qualifications:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>BS degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university </li>\n <li>Grade 07: A minimum of 2 years engineering experience</li>\n <li>Experience reading mechanical schematics and drawings</li>\n <li>Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret level security clearance and access to the AEDC local area network</li>\n <li>Due to Air Force Security requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required for employment at AEDC</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Practical experience in dealing with mechanical systems</li>\n <li>Ability to perform in a dynamic working environment with flexibility to meet mission demands</li>\n <li>Prior internship or co-op experience</li>\n <li>Strong organizational skills to track and facilitate progress on projects</li>\n <li>Demonstrated proactiveness and initiative to drive to results</li>\n <li>Exhibits strong level of technical curiosity and desire to seek understanding</li>\n <li>Strong interpersonal skills, strong written and oral communications skills, and confidence leading small teams</li>\n <li>Participates in and fosters a work environment that is based upon openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Active Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance</p>\n<p><strong>What We Offer</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Competitive salaries</li>\n <li>Continuing education assistance</li>\n <li>Multiple healthcare benefits packages</li>\n <li>401K with employer matching</li>\n <li>Paid time off (PTO) along with a federally recognized holiday schedule</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Who We Are</strong></p>\n<p>Beyond New Horizons (BNH) is a fully populated joint venture of Astrion and Fluor Federal Services, Inc. formed to provide unmatched Test Operations and Sustainment services for the Arnold Engineering Development Complex.</p>\n<p> We chose our name to serve as an enduring reminder of our commitment to AEDC’s rich aerospace research and development legacy anchored in AEDC’s Toward New Horizons founding study and the unprecedented opportunities to greatly expand AEDC’s capabilities and capacity Beyond those existing today.
