COMPANY: Quanta Government Solutions JOB TITLE: Safety Manager DEPARTMENT: Environment, Health, Safety and Security (EHS&S) LOCATION: Aiken, SC - Savannah River Site REPORTS TO: Project Director / Site Operations Manager CLASSIFICATION: Exempt POSITION OVERVIEW: The Safety Manager is responsible for establishing, implementing, and managing the comprehensive environment, health, safety, and security (EHS&S) program at the Savannah River Site (SRS) in Aiken, SC. This senior leadership position ensures that all QGS construction, maintenance, and operations activities are performed in full compliance with the Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS), DOE Orders, OSHA regulations, and QGS EHS&S program requirements. The Safety Manager serves as the primary safety interface with DOE client personnel, regulatory bodies, and project leadership, and is accountable for the overall safety culture, performance, and continuous improvement of the QGS safety program at the site. The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of safety management experience in a nuclear, DOE, or similarly regulated heavy industrial or government contracting environment. What You'll Do Lead, develop, and manage the site EHS&S program in compliance with DOE ISMS, DOE O 440.1, OSHA 29 CFR 1910/1926, and QGS EHS&S program requirements, ensuring all work activities are planned and executed with safety as the highest priority. Manage and mentor a team of safety professionals, industrial hygienists, and environmental specialists; provide performance evaluations, training, professional development, and day-to-day direction across all shifts. Serve as the primary EHS&S interface with DOE client safety representatives, NNSA/DOE-SR oversight personnel, and regulatory agencies; lead safety program briefings, incident briefings, and corrective action presentations. Oversee the site incident reporting and investigation program; direct root cause analyses for all recordable incidents, near-misses, and high-potential events; develop and track corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Direct the planning and execution of safety inspections, audits, and program assessments; ensure findings are documented, tracked, and resolved in a timely manner in accordance with QGS and DOE requirements. Review and approve job hazard analyses (JHAs), activity hazard analyses (AHAs), and safety sections of work packages for high-hazard activities; ensure hazard controls are adequate and properly implemented. Develop and deliver site safety training programs, toolbox safety talks, and safety leadership coaching for project management, field supervision, and craft personnel; champion a strong safety culture across the site. Perform other duties as assigned in support of QGS EHS&S, project, and program management objectives. What You'll Bring Required Education and Experience Bachelor degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered. Minimum of 10 years of progressive safety management experience in a DOE nuclear facility, heavy industrial, or government construction/maintenance environment, with at least 4 years in a management or supervisory role. Comprehensive knowledge of DOE ISMS, DOE O 440.1, OSHA 29 CFR 1910/1926, and federal contractor safety and health program requirements. Demonstrated experience managing incident investigation programs, corrective action programs, safety audit and surveillance programs, and multi-shift safety teams. Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills with demonstrated ability to interface effectively with DOE clients and regulatory personnel. > 11 Years Preferred Education and Experience Master degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field. Direct Savannah River Site or DOE major facility safety management experience (Hanford, WIPP, INL, Y-12, Oak Ridge, or equivalent). Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP). LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: Required Licenses/Certifications Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Savannah River Site access badge and pass all required DOE background checks and personnel security requirements. Valid U.S. driver license. OSHA 30-Hour General Industry or Construction certification. Preferred Licenses/Certifications DOE Q or L Security Clearance. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) through BCSP. Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Associate Industrial Hygienist (AIH). SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Directly supervises 4 to 10 safety professionals, industrial hygienists, and environmental specialists across all shifts. This senior leadership position ensures that all QGS construction, maintenance, and operations activities are performed in full compliance with the Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS), DOE Orders, OSHA regulations, and QGS EHS&S program requirements. The Safety Manager serves as the primary safety interface with DOE client personnel, regulatory bodies, and project leadership, and is accountable for the overall safety culture, performance, and continuous improvement of the QGS safety program at the site. The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of safety management experience in a nuclear, DOE, or similarly regulated heavy industrial or government contracting environment.</p>\n<h2>What You'll Do</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Lead, develop, and manage the site EHS&S program in compliance with DOE ISMS, DOE O 440.1, OSHA 29 CFR 1910/1926, and QGS EHS&S program requirements, ensuring all work activities are planned and executed with safety as the highest priority.</li>\n <li>Manage and mentor a team of safety professionals, industrial hygienists, and environmental specialists; provide performance evaluations, training, professional development, and day-to-day direction across all shifts.</li>\n <li>Serve as the primary EHS&S interface with DOE client safety representatives, NNSA/DOE-SR oversight personnel, and regulatory agencies; lead safety program briefings, incident briefings, and corrective action presentations.</li>\n <li>Oversee the site incident reporting and investigation program; direct root cause analyses for all recordable incidents, near-misses, and high-potential events; develop and track corrective actions to prevent recurrence.</li>\n <li>Direct the planning and execution of safety inspections, audits, and program assessments; ensure findings are documented, tracked, and resolved in a timely manner in accordance with QGS and DOE requirements.</li>\n <li>Review and approve job hazard analyses (JHAs), activity hazard analyses (AHAs), and safety sections of work packages for high-hazard activities; ensure hazard controls are adequate and properly implemented.</li>\n <li>Develop and deliver site safety training programs, toolbox safety talks, and safety leadership coaching for project management, field supervision, and craft personnel; champion a strong safety culture across the site.</li>\n <li>Perform other duties as assigned in support of QGS EHS&S, project, and program management objectives.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<h2>What You'll Bring</h2>\n<p><strong>Required Education and Experience </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.</li>\n <li>Minimum of 10 years of progressive safety management experience in a DOE nuclear facility, heavy industrial, or government construction/maintenance environment, with at least 4 years in a management or supervisory role.</li>\n <li>Comprehensive knowledge of DOE ISMS, DOE O 440.1, OSHA 29 CFR 1910/1926, and federal contractor safety and health program requirements.</li>\n <li>Demonstrated experience managing incident investigation programs, corrective action programs, safety audit and surveillance programs, and multi-shift safety teams.</li>\n <li>Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills with demonstrated ability to interface effectively with DOE clients and regulatory personnel.</li>\n <li>> 11 Years</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Preferred Education and Experience </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Master degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.</li>\n <li>Direct Savannah River Site or DOE major facility safety management experience (Hanford, WIPP, INL, Y-12, Oak Ridge, or equivalent).</li>\n <li>Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP).</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:</strong></p>\n<p><strong>Required Licenses/Certifications</strong></p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Savannah River Site access badge and pass all required DOE background checks and personnel security requirements.</li>\n <li>Valid U.S. driver license.</li>\n <li>OSHA 30-Hour General Industry or Construction certification.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Preferred Licenses/Certifications</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>DOE Q or L Security Clearance.</li>\n <li>Certified Safety Professional (CSP) through BCSP.</li>\n <li>Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Associate Industrial Hygienist (AIH).</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Directly supervises 4 to 10 safety professionals, industrial hygienists, and environmental specialists across all shifts.
