About the Role With offices in Burnaby, Kelowna, Victoria, and Courtenay, BC, we are looking for enthusiastic Utility Locating Technician Trainee  wanting to further their careers and grow with our passionate and forward-thinking team. We are the only locating provider in BC with Registered Utility Locator Technicians (RULT) and we take pride in our commitment to innovation and excellence. Our technicians locate underground utilities on-site using geophysical equipment such as Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), interpret and mark results, collecting data to draft detailed reports such as Subsurface Utilities Engineering (SUE). The ideal candidate will have an industry-related qualification and utility locating experience. Knowledge of GPR systems is an asset. As our Utility Locating Technician Trainee, your day-to-day responsibilities may include: Visiting various work sites (will be required to work in all weather conditions), some out of town for a couple of days or weeks assignment Assisting the technicians on field Reading and interpreting site plans, construction print data and maps, to assist in location of subsurface utility facilities Locating and marking subsurface utilities with a range of geophysical tools Following all health and safety protocols On your resume, we will be looking for the following: Valid class 5 BC driver's license as required for use of company vehicle Previous construction or trade experience is an asset Experience in geophysical surveys, land surveying, or geomatics is an asset Strong computer literacy, including expertise in AutoCAD, ArcGIS and GPS is an asset During the interview process, we will be looking for: How you demonstrate our shared value set of excellence (pushing yourself to be the very best), innovation (your ability to try new things and be okay with failing), community (how you give to your community, either micro or macro) and honesty (how you own your mistakes, even if it might mean you don’t always look as good as you hoped!)
