Description
Position Summary:
The Test Technician III, will be responsible for performing routine and varied tasks to ensure that production standards are met. Sets up, calibrates, tests and troubleshoots production assemblies. Projects may range from simple to complex.
Essential Functions:
1. Tests electronic and electro-mechanical units using standard test equipment. Analyzes results to evaluate performance and determine need for adjustment.
2. Assists with creation of written test procedures for new assemblies.
3. Adjusts or replaces defective or improperly functioning circuitry or electronic components using hand tools or soldering iron.
4. Provide engineering support or recommendations for new or existing equipment regarding installation, upgrades, or enhancements.
5. Update controlled documentation of component alterations.
6. Specifies and assists in acquisition of tools and equipment.
7. Performs preventative maintenance and/or calibration of equipment.
8. Sets up and performs bench, component, and system level tests.
9. Performs set-ups for AC and DC digital tests. Including high voltage testing (70E Arc Flash).
10. Ability to operate Digital Volt Meters, AC test fixtures, power supplies, etc.
11. Installs completed electro-mechanical and mechanical assemblies into equipment cabinets. (point to point wiring experience).
12. Disassembly, rework, and re-assembly of electro-mechanical and mechanical assemblies.
13. May be called upon to assist with Production assembly work at Production Supervisor’s discretion.
14. Install software applications.
15. Knowledge of oscilloscope use preferred but not required.
Education, Training, and Experience:
1. An associate degree in electronics is preferred but not required. 3-10 years of experience in electromechanical test and repair is essential.
2. This position requires good attention to detail and the ability to work from written test instructions.
3. Proficient in reading blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, or written work instructions for assembling electronic units.
4. Working knowledge of electronic theory and components.
5. Soldering proficiency for both mechanical joints and electrical connections preferred but not required.
6. Ability to troubleshoot and analyze failures using electronic test equipment and software.
7. Experience with accelerator systems (RF, high power electronics, high vacuum, superconducting magnets) is a strong plus.
8. Experience with controlled documentation and FDA compliance.
Physical and Environmental Considerations:
1. Must be able to Sit/Stand for long periods of time.
2. Required use of standard office equipment including laptop, phone, copier, etc.
3. Typical office environment.
4. The employee will work in high magnetic fields, with high voltages, and with radiation and radioactive materials.
5. The employee may be involved in light rigging operations.
