This leadership role will oversee engineering staff and provide technical direction on a wide range of civil infrastructure projects, including roadway improvements, traffic systems, potable and recycled water systems, storm drainage, and sewer infrastructure.</p><p>The Supervising Civil Engineer will manage project teams, oversee design and quality control, support proposal development, and maintain strong relationships with municipal clients. This position may also support <strong>contract City Engineer services</strong> and provide guidance on complex engineering studies and public works projects.</p><p>This is an excellent opportunity for a senior engineer looking to take on a leadership role within a collaborative consulting environment serving cities and public agencies.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Essential Functions</strong></p><p>- Conduct technical research on engineering problems.</p><p>- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and clients.</p><p>- Supervise and train professional and technical staff.</p><p>- Assist in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, and priorities for the engineering division; assist in the preparation and administration of the division budget.</p><p>- Prepare and administer performance evaluations, recommend promotions, and discipline, and implement discipline procedures as instructed.</p><p>- Project management oversight of all projects managed by staff, including quality control, and verifying budgets are managed appropriately.</p><p>- Supervise the development of plans and estimates for construction and major repair of public works systems.</p><p>- Supervise and participate in the preparation of special engineering studies and reports.</p><p>- Confer with others on project priorities and progress; participate in planning, progress, and design review meetings.</p><p>- Provide technical design assistance to project team members.</p><p>- Review and approve engineering drawings, sub-consultant, and related bills; prepare and monitor sub-consultant agreements; review new and proposed laws, regulations, codes, methods, materials, and technique for application to projects; develop and implement procedures, standards, and systems.</p><p>- Serve as staff to a variety of public agency clients and address/advise commissions, boards, and committees on public works systems matters; coordinate engineering activities with clients and other departments, divisions, and sections, and with outside agencies; make presentations to clients and respond to questions and concerns; meet with community groups, business leaders, and other interested parties regarding projects and concerns.</p><p>- Supervise and participate in the preparation of proposals (including preparation of project scopes and fees) and budgets.</p><p>- Participate in client management, maintaining positive professional relationships, and development efforts.</p><p>- Coordination with company principals and other department heads.</p><p>- Performs all the essential functions of the Senior Engineer.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Supervision Exercised and Received</strong></p><p>Receives direct supervision from Managing or Principal Engineer.</p><p>The Supervising Engineer has direct and indirect supervision of professional, technical, and clerical staff.</p>",
