    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p><strong>Topman - Pipelayer - Water and Sewer</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Sureway Construction</strong> is one of Alberta’s largest heavy construction contractors, with over 50 years’ experience, involved in; civil earthworks and grading, utilities and offsite, mine operation and aggregate extraction.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Work Local, Work Sureway!</strong> </p>\n<p><strong>Job Type:</strong> Full Time, Seasonal</p>\n<p><strong>Schedule: </strong>10+ hours per day, 6 & 1, OT after 8hr/day or 44hr/week</p>\n<p><strong>Location:</strong> Edmonton and Surrounding Area’s<strong> - </strong>no direct access to public transportation</p>\n<p><strong>Perks: </strong>Benefits, RRSP/TFSA Matching</p>\n<p><strong>Essential: </strong>Hard-working, reliable, flexible with schedule, ability to work in physically demanding conditions</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Requirements:</strong>    </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Personal Reliable Vehicle</li>\n <li>CSA approved steel toed boots with 6” ankle support</li>\n <li>Valid Driver’s License (non GDL) </li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Pre-employment:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Drug and alcohol testing (swab-based test)</li>\n <li>Successful completion of Company Orientation and site-specific orientation</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Topman Responsibilities:</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Inspection of materials and piping.</li>\n <li>Oversee installation of piping in the trench.</li>\n <li>Complete checks on grade and alignment.</li>\n <li>Shoot with a rod and level.</li>\n <li>Shoot grade with transit.</li>\n <li>Direct and signal heavy equipment operators.</li>\n <li>Install and repair a variety of water and sewer lines.</li>\n <li>Perform manual and labour intensive tasks as assigned.</li>\n <li>Direct placement of concrete into forms or onto surfaces according to grade.</li>\n <li>Level top surface according to grade and depth specification.</li>\n <li>Load and unload tools, materials and equipment.</li>\n <li>Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Pipelayer</strong><strong> Responsibilities:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Minimum two (2) years’ experience as a pipelayer.</li>\n <li>Directs activities within the trench to ensure the pipe is laid to the designed vertical and horizontal tolerances using levels or lasers.</li>\n <li>Align and position pipes to prepare them for welding, cementing or sealing with glue.</li>\n <li>Monitors backfill of pipe bedding to ensure proper haunch support.</li>\n <li>Assist in lot servicing and all other duties as required by Foreman.</li>\n <li>Install and repair sanitary and storm water, sewer structures and pipe systems.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Topman/ Pipelayer in Water and Sewer.</li>\n <li>Experience Shooting grades with a Rod and Level.</li>\n <li>Ability to work in physically demanding work conditions</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Sureway Construction Group</strong> is an equal opportunity employer.
