Description
JOB SUMMARY: The Production Supervisor is responsible for coordinating activities of workers in the production of batteries. This position acts as a management representative in interpreting company policy, procedures and enforcing all company rules and safety regulations. The Production Supervisor strives to achieve company goals in manufacturing while working with other members of the production team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for plant personnel in an emergency situation such as; emergency sirens for fire or tornado activation and testing, medical emergencies requiring EMS, weather emergencies, CPR and first aid. Establishes or adjusts work schedule to meet production requirement using knowledge of capacities of machines/equipment and available manpower. Cooperates with staff, sales, and scheduling to achieve desired quality and production goals. Responsible for the control of quality of batteries produced, scrap loss, and defect reduction. Analyzes work problems and recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, working conditions and equipment usage to increase efficiency. Coordinates suggested changes with Manufacturing Superintendent to stay within corporate guidelines. Monitors productivity and coordinates activities with other departments and shifts. Responsible for timely approval of all employee timecards/allocations for the purposes of payroll. Delegates of performs training of new employees to the position. Willingness to participate in continuous learning to better improve managerial skills. Responsible for daily housekeeping of personal area and plant floor. Ability to work weekend and holiday duty as designated. Responsible for the safety of: Routine activities such as trip hazards, 5-S and tool care Respirator use/requirements and blood lead reduction Accident prevention, reporting and investigating Forklift safety Pinch point identification Responsible for but not limited too: Quality systems support and management Providing procedures and work instructions Providing adequate equipment and training Identifying and implementing continual improvement, corrective and preventative actions in assigned areas Understanding and following policies, procedures, and instructions Identifying and reporting product, process, and quality system non-conformities to appropriate personnel Controlling nonconforming products Supporting implementation of corrective/preventative and improvement actions Responsible for verifying and posting production paperwork. Be familiar and compliant with the systems, procedures, and documentation of the Crown Quality System and how it relates to this position and Crown quality objectives.
ACCOUNTABILITY: This position reports directly to the Assistant Manufacturing Superintendent.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRMENTS:
Must be 18 years of age Experience with safety and environmental training 3-5 years manufacturing/factory experience preferred in a fast-paced setting Basic math and computer skills Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, supervision, and management Familiar with inspection equipment, gauges, and measuring tools Mechanically inclined and able to use different types of hand tools Proven work history and good attendance record Ability to obtain a forklift/manlift license WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand/walk for 8-10 hours at a time. Bending, twisting, and turning. Full use of both hands to finger, handle, or fell objects, tools, or tooling; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel crouch or crawl; talk to hear. The employee must be able to lift or move up to 75 pounds frequently and in excess of 140 pounds infrequently. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Must follow OSHA guidelines on respirator fit testing and proper wear. Will wear goggles or face shield at all times while in department.
