This team is equipped to treat children with a variety of different orthopedic conditions ranging from mild to complex. Other specialties you will find at our facility include limb lengthening and reconstruction, spine care, muscular and neuromuscular care, orthotics and prosthetics and plastic surgery.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p></p>\n<h2>Job Overview</h2>\n<p>The Medical Assistant supports the medical and nursing staff in providing care and comfort to infant, toddler, preschool, school-age, adolescent, and young adult patients during outpatient clinic appointments by performing routine clinical and clerical tasks.  In addition, the Medical Assistant is responsible for phlebotomy and assisting with the application and removal of casts.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>The Medical Assistant assists in rooming patients, taking vital signs, measurements, preparation of exam rooms, stocking supplies, assisting the physician, interacting with other departments and documentation in the electronic medical record.  </li>\n <li>The Medical Assistant works with and under the direction of the RN.</li>\n <li>Assists providers, nursing and other health care professionals with procedures and the intake and depart processes. Accurately documents information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)</li>\n <li>Responsible for prepping clinic to be prepared for that day's clinic to include monitoring supplies and equipment and ordering supplies</li>\n <li>Utilizes good clinical judgement to identify problems and interventions with patients and families and referral to RN as needed</li>\n</ul>\n<p>This is not an all-inclusive list of this job’s responsibilities. The incumbent may be required to perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.</p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Required:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Medical Assistant Certificate or Associate's in related field</li>\n <li>Basic Life Support (BLS)</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Preferred:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Registered Medical Assistant (American Medical Technologists), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (National Healthcare Association) or Certified Medical Assistant (American Association of Medical Assistants), Registered Medical Assistant (American Allied Health) preferred</li>\n <li>Three years' experience as a Medical Assistant</li>\n <li>Two years' pediatric care experience</li>\n <li>American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)</li>\n</ul>\n<p><em>Shriners Children’s is an EOE/Drug-Free, Smoke-Free Workplace. </em> </p>\n<p> </p>",
