Summary
Providence Health Care's Mental Health Program is now hiring for a permanent, full-time Clinical Nurse Specialist to help provide clinical leadership, drive forward program development and education, and contribute to research and evidence-based practice within the Program. Being a Clinical Nurse Specialist at PHC means being supported by a robust network of interdisciplinary professionals.
Reporting to the Program Director for Program issues and the Chief of Professional Practice and Nursing for professional issues, the Clinical Nurse Specialist provides expert nursing care to patients and families and functions as a clinical leader within the Mental Health Program. Consults and collaborates with Clinical Group/Service Leaders, other nurses and health care professionals to improve and advance nursing practice and patient/resident outcomes both in Mental Health and in nursing practice initiatives throughout Providence Health Care.
Your responsibilities will include:
Research and Evidence-Based Practice: Supports and conducts nursing research to improve clinical practices and patient outcomes. Critiques, disseminates, and integrates research findings into practice while encouraging and mentoring colleagues in research and evidence-based care initiatives.
Clinical Expertise and Leadership: Provides expert nursing care to patients/residents and serves as a clinical leader in mental health, acting as a role model for professional nursing practice. This includes maintaining excellence in care, influencing nursing practices, and collaborating across disciplines to improve patient outcomes.
Consultation and Program Development: Offers consultation to nurses and interdisciplinary teams by guiding clinical decision-making, planning care strategies, and contributing to the development and evaluation of patient care programs and standards of practice within the specialty area.
Education and Professional Development: Leads educational initiatives by identifying learning needs, developing and implementing training programs for nursing staff, and contributing to the education of nursing students and interdisciplinary teams. Promotes a culture of continuous learning and professional growth across the organization.
What You Bring
Education
Master's degree in Nursing. Current practicing registration with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia.
Five years of Nursing experience with three years of recent, related experience in a clinical area relevant to the area of specialty.
Skills and Abilities
Ability to develop, implement and evaluate programs in areas of clinical practice.
Ability to perform in-depth holistic patient/family assessments, plan, implement and evaluate care for complex care situations, and guide interdisciplinary team members in care planning.
Ability to be an effective consultant for individuals and groups.
Ability to conceptualize research questions and collaborate with researchers to conduct research.
Ability to role model expert nursing practice.
Ability to assist in the development of professional and leadership skills of the nursing staff.
Ability to synthesize and utilize research findings in practice.
Ability to present clinical/research work in a scholarly way.
Prepared to be affiliated with a university school.
