About the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine:
The Department of Global Health and Social Medicine applies social science and humanities research to constantly improve the practice of medicine, the delivery of treatment, and the development of health care policies locally and worldwide. Major efforts include developing the science of global health delivery implementation; advancing equity in health care delivery; and educating students and researchers on biosocial determinants of disease, health care delivery, and responsible practice of medicine. The Department is the central structure to help organize global health activities, especially medical education experiences, at Harvard Medical School.
The Research Assistant II performs and coordinates a wide range of research activities for various research projects in the Mental Health for All Lab and conducts a variety of support tasks for these research projects. The RA will work closely with the PI and lab leadership to coordinate lab activities, manage communication channels, and provide logistical support for research initiatives. The individual will report directly to the Senior Program Manager. This position will consist of:
Research
Assist with data collection and data analysis tasks related to EMPOWER project deliverables Assist in preparation of grant proposals and other requests to secure funding to expand the EMPOWER project and other research activities in the Lab. Assist in the preparation of study protocol and research materials, including one-pagers, PowerPoint slide decks, ethical protocols, training material, and more. Travel to project sites to meet with project collaborators as needed. Manage and update the Learning Management System for EMPOWER courses Support lab communication efforts to share research findings, project updates, and upcoming events; including lab newsletters, website, social media pages, and YouTube and Vimeo channels Work directly with the Senior Program Manager to plan and coordinate events for the lab and the broader Global Mental Health @ Harvard community Support lab directors with communication to external stakeholders and partners Administrative
Support lab communication efforts to share research findings, project updates, and upcoming events; including lab newsletters, website, social media pages, and YouTube and Vimeo channels Work directly with the Senior Program Manager to plan and coordinate events for the lab and the broader Global Mental Health @ Harvard community Support lab directors with communication to external stakeholders and partner We will create a short assignment to assess your communication and research skills during the interview period, that will help us better understand your qualifications and background. This can provide valuable insight into your experience and interest in the role.
Basic Qualifications:
College background in psychology, public health, global health, social sciences, or a related field One to two years of related research experience required (relevant coursework may count towards experience)
Additional Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's degree preferred Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including professional email etiquette Proficiency with common office and collaboration tools (e.g., Zoom, Mail Chimp, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, etc.) Experience maintaining websites Experience with social media management Proficiency in Spanish Prior experience supporting events, webinars, or academic programs

Work Format Details
This position has been determined by school or unit leaders that some of the duties and responsibilities can be effectively performed at a non-Harvard location. When not working at a Harvard or Harvard-designated location, employees in hybrid positions must work in a Harvard registered state in compliance with the University’s Policy on Employment Outside of Massachusetts .
