text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">SUMMARY OF POSITION:</span></span></p>\n<p>Teaches one or more courses within the Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Heavy Equipment Operations (HEO) division of the Workforce Development Department (no more than 7.5 credits per semester).</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Classes to be taught will prepare students for the following licenses and certifications: </p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Restricted Off</span>‑<span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Highway CDL </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Restricted Class B CDL </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Unrestricted Class A or B CDL</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Forklift Operator</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Given the on-site nature of these and related courses, Ilisagvik College welcomes applicants from throughout Alaska. </span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Inter', sans-serif; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: underline\">ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Prepares and maintains updated instructional materials, course outlines, and curriculum.<br></li>\n<li>Teach course material in an academic setting such as permit preparation or CDL endorsement trainings.<br></li>\n<li>Teach course material in a laboratory (hands-on) setting such as behind-the-wheel drivers ed, behind-the-wheel CDL, and/or heavy equipment operations.<br></li>\n<li>Develops and submits current course syllabus, using the college template.<br></li>\n<li>Maintains office hours (in-person, telephonically, or online).<br></li>\n<li>Evaluates student performance and submits appropriate attendance, grades, and reports.<br></li>\n<li>Completes reports and presentations, and attends meetings and special events, as required.<br></li>\n<li>Participates in professional development as necessary to be proficient in the college’s current technologies and learning platform.<br></li>\n<li>Coordinates with Department Faculty and administration on topics such as scheduling, road exams, DOT physicals, and DOT drug screening.<br></li>\n<li>Travel to North Slope villages for VEWFD courses and activities as available.<br></li>\n<li>Complies with College policies, procedures and administrative directives, as well as state, federal, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances.                                                      <br></li>\n<li>Performs other related duties as assigned.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Inter', sans-serif; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: underline\">KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Good oral and written communication skills.<br></li>\n<li>Demonstrated experience in curriculum development.<br></li>\n<li>Demonstrated experience with distance delivery.<br></li>\n<li>Demonstrated ability to interact effectively in a multicultural environment.<br></li>\n<li>Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.<br></li>\n<li>Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following areas: post-secondary educational systems, North Slope Borough [NSB] institutions and organizations; Iñupiat culture, language, values, and traditions.<br></li>\n<li>Ability to interpret and represent North Slope community values, customs, and beliefs for the College.</li>\n<li>Ability to interpret and represent College actions and western institutions to the North Slope community.<br></li>\n<li>Ability to support Iḷisaġvik College’s mission.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Inter', sans-serif; font-weight: bold\"> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">EDUCATION/CERTIFICATES/TRAINING [Required]:</span></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>High school diploma or equivalent.<br></li>\n<li>Certifications and / or experience related to job description.<br></li>\n<li>Must have a clean driving record, an Alaska Commercial Driver License, and have held that license for at least 5-years.<br></li>\n<li>A minimum of one year teaching experience in the appropriate field, or equivalency experience.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Inter', sans-serif; font-weight: bold\"> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">EDUCATION/CERTIFICATES/TRAINING [Preferred]:</span></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Associates degree or equivalent.<br></li>\n<li>Have appropriate certificates, journeyman-level, or experience, in commercial driving and/or heavy equipment operations.<br></li>\n<li>Have a minimum of 400 hours of training experience in a post-secondary environment.<br></li>\n<li>Possess a current State of Alaska Driving Instructor Permit.<br></li>\n<li>Valid Alaska A/CDL license with all operator endorsements.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Inter', sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: </span></span>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
