Field efforts will be focused on conducting surveys for biological resources under the direction of a field supervisor and monitoring environmental sensitive areas during preconstruction and construction phases. Candidates that have experience working outdoors, a degree in environmental studies and interested in environmental survey experience are highly encouraged to apply. Prior field experience is preferred but not necessary.<strong>Duties and Responsibilities</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Ability to tolerate hot temperatures and adverse weather conditions.</li>\n <li>Ability to walk long distances (between 1-10 miles) through full sun and hot temperatures.</li>\n <li>Work with construction crews and environmental resource leads to document compliance levels related to environmental regulations.</li>\n <li>Ability to work collaboratively with construction personnel and regulatory personnel to develop solutions while implementing permit conditions.</li>\n <li>Record and take notes of any observations on a Dudek platform and electronic device (smartphone/tablet) to be used for reporting purposes</li>\n <li>Follow all Dudek and construction site safety protocols</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Minimum Qualifications</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor’s degree (or in-progress), Associate’s degree, or commensurate years of experience in environmental sciences or other related field.</li>\n <li>Must demonstrate solid written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong time management skills.</li>\n <li>Flexibility with weather and survey conditions that can change rapidly in the field, and an understanding that it may affect how many hours can be surveyed in a day, week, or month.</li>\n <li>Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and self-motivated with an interest to learn and grow.</li>\n <li>Must possess a valid driver’s license and have active personal automobile liability insurance by the first day of employment</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Understanding of environmental regulations</li>\n <li>Qualified biologist to survey and monitor for special-status wildlife and plant species</li>\n <li>Previous approvals from CDFW and/or USFWS as a project-approved biological monitor or designated biologist.</li>\n <li>Proficient in construction monitoring and inspection experience</li>\n <li>Proficient in performing nesting bird surveys</li>\n <li>Proficient in noise monitoring</li>\n <li>Proficient in third-party oversight monitoring</li>\n <li>Certifications in sediment and erosion control</li>\n <li>Experience conducting hazardous materials inspections</li>\n <li>Experience with GPS/GIS mobile applications (ArcField Maps, ESRI, ArcMap)</li>\n <li>Experience with Survey123</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Compensation:</strong> $25.00-45.00/hourly* </p>\n<p>*Final agreed-upon compensation will be based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s related experience, education, certifications, skills, and work location. Successful candidates must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check prior to beginning employment. </p>\n<p><strong>Working Conditions </strong><strong> </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>This job operates in an outdoor or office-based environment and this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, etc. </li>\n <li>This job requires project site visits, based outdoors which can include excessive noise, uneven walking surfaces, extreme weather, and moving vehicles and equipment. </li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Physical Requirements </strong></p>\n<p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
